I am 6 weeks PO nearly and am turning out to be somewhat of a horror story! my wounds will not close and the nurses do not know why! I have had 2 full courses of strong antibiotics and silver dressing usually used for acute burn wounds. I do not know where to get any positivity from as I am so low right now and cant even look at myself, Please tell me there is someone else out there that have come out of a similar situation I really need reassurance! xxx

I’m sorry you’re having such a bad time hun. I haven’t had surgery yet but I know it’s not unusual to feel this way. In time you will be sorted and you will look back at this time and think to yourself that it was all worth it. I really feel for you but things will get better xxx

    Hey huni,

I am having problems with my disdolvable stitches which have left tiny holes on my nipples, whilst the nurses say its quite common and nothing to worry about, I still have dressings on 7 weeks po and had to have the dissolvable things picked out of my nipple incisions last week as my body rejected them, hence I understand that it gets you down wen things don’t go to plan. Have the nurses told you what they’re action plan is to help you now?

Try not to be down, once they eventually heal you’ll have lovely boobies! Xx

Hey hun, i am havin a bit of a down few days myself cos my scars are quite extensive after my uplift almost 4 weeks ago and its only just hittin home that they will be with me forever, so altho i havnt got same prob as u i can understand a little of what you are probably feeling. Have the nurses takem outside adivce, have your bloods been taken to check for low iron, b12 etc? Cos they can interfere with healing if they arent right, just somthing to maybe ask if its not been done already. I hope and im sure you will be sorted soon hun, try to keep your chin up xxxx

Hey I havnt experienced it myself as yet to have my op but my friend had it a few years ago on one boob and it was a re Aug and had no problems the first time round. She had to make many trips some I went with her for to have it redressed over and over, and she was devastated, but it did eventually get better. Lozza is right have a blood count to check iron levels, im b12 deficient and have to have injections every 3 month’s, without this my body wouldn’t heal. My friends problem they put down to not looking after herself (im not saying your not at all) but she was constantly dieting therefore not giving her body the energy and vitamins it needed to heal, also with added stress on top because it wasn’t healing was just making it worse, so if you can try to relax, it will heal your not going to be stuck like this forever, eat as healthy and balanced as u can lots of red meat and perhaps even try taking extra folic acid and a multi vitamin if u don’t already. You will have perfect boobs eventually hun sorry to hear it hasn’t gone the way u hoped but ul get there :) xxxxx

P.s at my apt with the nurse, she recommended a high cal diet. With loads of choc,

as it gives us more energy, and speeds up the healing process x x

Im the same as loreli, i have to have b12 jabs and had course of iron before this op to top up my stores since im prone to anemia, these things along with a full varied healthy diet all promote healing, i douby i wud have healed well without these precautions. And routinely b12 isnt done, u need a blood screening so defo worth askin xx

do you smoke? apparently that slows down healing. If not mega good luck and hope you heal well soon and all seems like a bad dream. x x x x
