I am booked in for a BA with gary traynor on the 2nd of march at manchester and after coming on here and reading what other people have wrote I have realised how little I know about what I’m having done!!
I mean what is the difference between unders, overs and partials??? I cant even remeber what size I’m going for!!! How bad is that??!! I remember 380cc and 410cc being mentioned and I think I opted for the bigger one. lol..
My consultation just seems like a bit of a blur now…
I have so many questions now… Like how long is it before you can go back to work and be ok to drive? I know they advise on a week off but would like to hear some stories…
Also I go away for the weekend on the 9th of april which is 5 weeks after!! Will I be ok???
HELP!!! Any info would be appreciated… xxx
Hi Leanne,
Don’t worry about the dos and dont’s you’ll get a few really helpful informative sheets from your nurse when you go for your pre-op (you can always go and meet with your surgeon again tho should you have a whole heap of things to discuss further). Email your PC if you’d like a copy of them beforehand – they might be able to email the docs to you although the nurse will definitely want to talk through them all with you. Your PC should have run through them quickly when you went for your first consult?
For what you’ve mentioned here I can tell you the following:
driving – not before 1 week after, definitely not driving home after surgery whether you’re a day case or overnight, you need a ‘chauffeur’.
time off work – it differs from person to person but to be on the same side I’ve booked a week and a half. I would have liked 2 but didnt have enough leave left and havent exactly explained to my boss why I might like more, none of her biz.
Where is your weekend away? If it’s a short haul flight it’s 2 weeks recovery minimum, long haul is 6 weeks recovery (due to the risk of deep vein thrombosis). I suppose the next question here is what are you doing when you’re away? Strenuous activity is not recommended for 6 weeks after your surgery (including strenuous hanky panky, oh how that makes me laugh. “I’ll just lie back and think of England hun if that’s ok with you, I’m recovering from surgery after all…” hahahahaa)
Unders go under part of the muscle – they’re ‘clasped’ at the top of the implant by your muscle. You need a little breast tissue to have these so women with initial bra sizes aa and a tend to get overs I think. With overs you run the risk of rippling and implant flipping. The recovery from overs is slightly easier than from unders I do believe but I think it’s a matter of an extra week’s discomfort for unders from what I’ve read on this forum and sofem. I’m a 34b so was asked whether I’d prefer unders or overs and I’m going for unders cosI hate the thought of rippling and a re-op – 410cc.
Anything else you’d like to know? Giz a shout…
Clare

Aw thanks Clare that was really helpful… I have just emailed my PC for more inof and I think I am going to ask for another consultation with the surgeon.. Do you think is OK?
As for the holiday thing.. Its only a weekend away.. There are 10 of us who have hired a barge for the weekend so hopefully its not too strenuous!!
I have booked 10 days off work so hopefully this will be enough… Definitely dont want anyone at work knowing as they are all men!!! I am a little worried about the driving thing though because I a am a kitvhen designer and have to visit peoples houses up to 4 times a day!!! eekk…
xx
No probs! I reckon you’ll be fine driving about after your 10 days off so your clients will be happily receiving kitchen designs!
If you’re with MYA you can have as many consultations as you like. You’re paying a lot of money for the procedure and it’s a big deal so talk to MYA/your PC/your surgeon as much as you need to and don’t be shy to keep asking questions! I had a phase of emailing my pc nearly every day one week but since then, 2 months ago, I just feel totally at ease cos she’s been ace, and now I have my dos and donts at the ready to keep checking.
Re the barge – make someone else operate the locks

Hey claire i was driving 4 days post op, i know they like u to wait a week but it was the begginin of jan when we had all that snow so i would not of been able to push my little on in her pram, was a little bit sore drivin that soon but after about 10 days you should be fine xx
joanne how old is your little girl?? I have a 2 year old and have been wondering how I’m going to cope after my op with her… IE lifting etc… x
also u can contact ur mya coordinator at any time and ask whatever u want x
Hey I was totally the same, I had hardly any questions to ask! I think where I was so excited at the thought of booking my BA I just couldnt think of anything to really ask. I cant remember what I am having think it is moderate profile and have been recomended 260cc but I think I may go back to see my PC and see the bigger size I could have. I should of took notes hehe!!!
