Hey ladies, I am writing a feature for uni on cosmetic surgery and the question of “is it necessary”. The piece is non-biased (I am getting a breast enlargement in July
. I just need as many quotes as poss. please could you just spare a few mins to answer the question:
What are your reasons for having cosmetic surgery, was it necessary? If so, give reasons why.
Thanks a millions.
P.S could you just add your name/age to your quote please. It will not be published, just looked at by my lecturer.xxx

No it isn’t what I class as necessary, yes it has improved my self esteem but then so did going back to work after having two kids. I did it for me, something I could afford to do after saving up for it, and I am happier now that I can go to shops and buy clothes that actually fit me, so if you take that into context, in order to fit into clothes that are cut for a certain shape then yes it was necessary.
Brianne 22 look at my pics lol u will see why im booked in I didnt develop any boobs at all
so for that reason… Im completely flat, cant enjoy nice.dresses or wear a bikini on hol xx

I think what is neccessary to one is not neccessary to another. My husband said “it wasn’t neccessary” and I though it was. I done it for me though, not him, not anyone else – just me! And to be honest its the first thing Ive done for ‘just me’ since I became a wife and mother…… so in summary – definitely neccessary!!!!! xxxx
Tazha, 37yrs,
Yes it was necessary, after 20 years as an athelete, I had bounced away any boobies I once had! Having a baby also made my boobs look even more deflated. So, a BA has given me my curves back that I lost many years ago, now feel like a real woman again and I definitely will no longer be wearing baggy tops anymore to hide my flat chest! Tailored clothes here I come!!!!!

reason for my surgery wasnt classed as necessary but i have always like the look a fake boobs and wanted them to feel more inproportion. love them and feel so confident now, money well spent x
Ahh ladies thanks for all the replies! Your quotes are a bonus!

In my case very necessary, left with 2 different size boobs after breast feeding my son. Left with no self confidence and felt like a freak, best decision i ever made and money well spent xx
Hi Tam19:
Bec
age 33
Is it necessary ‘No’. Is it necessary for my self esteem ‘yes’.
Always been an A cup so small but never found it a problem in my younger days…
After having 3 kids (But not breastfeeding)… I am the thinnest ive ever been & also lost most of my breast tissue strangely so am now aa
I am uncomfortable in my ‘childs’ bra, my clothes dont hang right…I feel very unattractive & not womanly at all… The whole issue brings me to tears:(
Cant wait to feel like a woman & start wearing some nice clothes again! Having my op in April -sorry for rambling on
aww riggers i felt 4 u ther lass nobody will under stand till there in r shoes !!or r small bras hahahah aw bet u cant wait till april what date ?i am a week 2 day ahh xx good luck
Awww riggers ur not rambling on I totally understand how u feel. Im 20 and totally flat chested. My lil 16 year old sis is already a 34D/DD, which makes me totally jealous. I havent had any kids yet, but I totally know what u mean about the self esteem issues.
Jo 37 years!
After having 2 children and losing a lot of weight my boobs had sagged to a very empty 34C…i’v wanted surgery for years and i am finally in a position to do it! I want my pre baby boobs back..I’v been very self conscious about my boobs since having the kids and am having this op purely to boost my confidence and feel good about myself again xx
Lisa, 36.
I wouldn’t say it’s necessary but then neither is over-populating the world by having children, yet people don’t attach a stigma to that. I’m very happy for my friends to have their kids and they’re happy for me to have my boobs. What suits one person will not suit another. Freedom of choice is s a great thing.
Thanks tam19, wow you sister is DD how annoying haha
Pinky, 2 weeks today thats great! Mine is April 19th..
Lisa M, well said!
Jo, not long for you now bet your excited
xx
I’m terrified to be honest riggers….keep going into meltdown
I think its lack of sleep…as you can see i was trawling the forum at 5am lol xx
Jo, remind me, what day is yours, Wednesday? It’s a weird feeling when it gets close. I keep thinking god, I’m going to go from flat to waking up an hour or so later and having big bazookas! Don’t be scared. Just thinking of it as a nice sleep and when you wake up it will be better than any Christmas present ever. x
Melissa – 23 years old.
Necessary – No, however it is for my self confidence.
I have always been around the 10st mark, however when I fell pregnant at 18, I put on 5st 5lb (I was in shock of being Preg!), then I had a C-Section so I have a over hang of skin, and a fair few stretch marks. I am booked in for a tummy tuck, I have been told my Muscles are pretty tight, however I would never of got rid of the excess skin without surgery. Also I am having a Uplift with Implants, I have always been big busted (first bra was a 36C at 13yo – just woke up one day and there they were!), however again due to the weight gain, they went south.
So to sum it all up – No its not, however I am 23yo (my birth certificate says so!!!), however my body looks 40yo.
xxxx
hi lisa, yes mines wednesday! Just had my admission time – 7.30am! I know what you mean, i can’t wait to wake up with boobies!! I think its just the final few days waiting thats getting to me…i’m just so tired with not sleeping but i know it will be worth it in the end
xx
Dont worry ladies pretty soon we will all be flashing people at every opportunity we get. I’ve already warned my housemates that they’ll have to put of with me flashing my hooters once they’re done
lol tam
xx
Michelle: 31 when I had op, 32 now. I had tuberous and asymetrical breasts with abnormally large areola’s. It wasn’t necessary, but necessary for my self-esteem and confidence as a woman, as I felt very self-conscious for years… The decision for me to have op wasn’t decided overnight, I almost went through with op a few years ago but backed out at last minute. I finally took the plunge and had uplift and implants in Jan (almost 8 weeks ago), best decision I ever made. xxx
Samantha, 29.
I had a full mastopexy and implants with a nipple reduction.
After 3 children – during 2nd pregnancy i went upto a H cup and then after attempting to breastfeed all 3 i was left with very deflated, saggy boobs. I have said for about 6yrs that if i ever had the money i would have it done, then i lost my dad last year so used the money i had been holdin for him to get it done. I did it for me, to boost my confidence, none of my bra’s ever fit properly as it was mainly just excess saggy skin, i didnt even like my husband to see me naked as i hated how i looked. I dont think it was necessary by most peoples standards, but for my self esteem it was. xx

Necessary is a term relative to every individual so I would say that my surgery is necessary. Before I had my daughter I measured a 32c, then they ballooned to a 34DD (rib cage expands during pregnancy) accompanied by huge stretch marks and scaring and then after finishing breastfeeding I had not only gone to a 32a but I had lost all shape, volume was left with all the scarring and pretty much only loose skin to fill my bra. In terms of appearance they were hideous, and even my then boyfriend could not hide his disgust. Padded bras can only do so much, and they also can’t help your self esteem. You lose all confidence, self esteem and it made me incredibly unhappy. Surgery is necessary for me to begin to feel confident in myself again, for me to be start feeling happy about myself. Here’s hoping next wednesday, the big day of surgery, couldn’t come any sooner! xx
Tammy – had my ba for my 40th birthday!
No it wasn’t neccessary, hubby still loved my boobs, but after breast feeding all 3 of my children, they were small and empty looking. Had a ba to make myself feel more confident, and feel more in proportion. Ba was 18 months ago, and don’t regret it x
