So, I’m not very well. I think I’ve developed a chest infection. I went to the doctor last week and he told me it was a virus and antibiotics wouldn’t help. I’ve got my op next Saturday so I don’t want to be ill for that. I’m not sure what to do. Do I go back to the doctors and explain that I’m having an operation next week so I need sorting? I just think that being ill for a couple of weeks means that something isn’t right and I need something stronger than over-the-counter remedies to sort it.

Will they still do my op if I have antibiotics in my system? Has anyone else been ill before theirs? I’m worried they’ll cancel it! xx

Heya I’m sorry you’re not well 🙁 I had the same thing, I got bronchitis a few days before my op was booked for in January and it got cancelled, and then rebooked for end of January and same thing happened again!
They won’t do your op if you are taking antibiotics which is why I didn’t go to the doctors at first cos I didn’t want mine to be cancelled, but as I left it so long I was so unwell and it took forever to get better. I’d say definitely go to the doctors again and explain in case you do need something and then you can get it cleared up quickly.
I think you have to let mya know if you’re unwell so maybe phone and check with the nurse as well, they’ll probably say just wait and see if it clears up before next week, and fingers crossed it will do 🙂 a week is plenty of time to get better so try not to stress, I hope you feel better soon xx

Ahh, thanks girls. I’ve got an appointment with my doctor this afternoon so I’m hoping he’ll sort it either way. It’s not making me really ill, I just want to take any precautions to make sure I’m not really poorly for next week. I’ll keep you updated. Thanks again xx
