They would not do a GA on you if they thought you were an anaethetic risk so don’t worry, if they thought there was a chance of you waking up they would not take the risk with you ! Probably not much help but explain your concerns when you go in and they will do all they can to reassure you, just think of the end results ! x
Hope it all goes well

you will be fine think of how big your boobies will be.. it will be all worth it in the end…
Hi girls, I work in anaesthetics, there are two medical conditions that pose a danger when having a GA but they are hereditary, so if a family member has never had a problem with a GA you will be fine. Even if you do have either of these conditions then the anaesthetist will use different drugs to put you to sleep. They are both extremely rare though – in 6 years of helping to put patients to sleep I have never seen either of these problems occur and probably never will! I hope this has reassured you all a bit, when I had my BA I loved the GA! It was amazing drifting off to sleep then waking up what semed like a minute later with boobs
Good luck girls, the anaesthetists at private hospitals are the best you can get and you will be in safe hands so don’t worry x

Michmrob thank you so much for that post i am absolutely petrified of having a GA and even tho im not having my BA til November ive been very stressed over being put to sleep…. i now feel a lot better reading what you have put and would like to give you a big hug for the reassurance thank you so much xxxx
thank u am in 2moz and relly scared wot happens if u have a allergy but dont know?
thanks
If anyone in your family has had one of the reactions I mentioned you would know about it hun as it’s quite severe. Even if it did happen they will recognise the signs straight away and there are things they can do to reverse it so don’t worry. Best thing to do is be as relaxed as possible when going to sleep. It’s like pressing a pause button, so if you go to sleep anxious or upset you will wake up like it. No big deal but it’s better to be nice and relaxed when you wake up x
michmrob everytime iv had general anastetic before well twice im woke up swearing and quite agressive which totally isnt me.
cringe!
is this quiet normal well not normal but does it happen and if i tell them will they be less likley to operate. xxx be really greatful for ne advice as so worried xx
Hi Shelley, yes it’s called emergence delirium and it’s quite rare (less than 10% of patients will experience it), but completely normal. A pain in the arse for whoever is recovering you but still normal lol!
They will still operate but it would be a good idea to let the anaesthetist know when s/he comes to see you so that they can make the recovery staff aware, that way they will be prepared and they may possibly give you a small dose of sedative when they wake you up x
Hey ladies can I just say michmrob this has made me sooooooooooooooooooooooooo much bette about the whole thing!! I feel so much better!! The condition would that be picked up in the blood test?? Good luck cazxpink lett me know how it goes! Thanks soooo much michmrob feel loads betta!! When is yours due?? xxx
No probs, glad to be of help! The condition is called malignant hypothermia if you really want to look it up but I wouldn’t advise it lol. As I said it’s extremely rare, in fact the drug used to treat it has to be checked that it’s still in date in post op recovery units as it is so rarely used! And yes you can be tested for it but they will only do this if they feel you have a high chance of having it, eg if a family member has it. But please don’t worry, I’m just trying to get across how rare these sort of things are, and that all anaesthetists will be aware of the signs and symptoms, and therefore prepared to treat them if they do occur x
Oh and I had my ba 9 weeks ago and feel fab! I was prob more anxious than normal, being well aware of what was going to happen to me whilst I was asleep but as I said, I loved the GA and the care I was given at Highgate was absolutely brilliant, can’t fault them x

Hi Peeps
i am considering a breast reduction as i am so unhappy with my breasts but so scared of GA i suffer from anxiety is there anything they can do to keep me calm before surgery?
ive had 3 in my life and im still here
my fiance had 8 in the space of 2 weeks. its nothing to worry about girls.
I more worried about when i wake up ill be chatting nonsense!! last time i was asking for my sunglasses and hand bag lol!!! x
Hi Ladies sooooo glad everybody else is bricking it because of GA Ive been dreaming about it every night since I booked my ba last week and ive been thinking about cancelling it as im terrified of leaving my baby boys I did a silly thing and looked it up online and it said theres a 1 in a 100,000 chancing of death and thought that was high but I suppose that must be the unwell and old??? I also suffer with anxiety and wondered if there was anything they could give me before hand? So MICHMROB is this hereditary condition the only thing that can kill you other than age and unwell people??? Thankyou in advance though because you have made me feel loads better! x
