Is there a better way to do this?…..

Im in Highgate on 19th April, my husband is coming to London with me but will have our 2 children with him as we don’t have anyone to look after them. Can’t really get around this – I’m going as day case but even if I stayed overnight I would need someone to take me home the next day as we live over 5 hours away from London. So – we are going to travel up to London on Monday evening and staying in a hotel overnight, then, we though I could get tube/taxi to hospital in the morning (probably going to have to leave too early to get kids up for husband to drive me in), then, if we knew roughly what time my op was my husband could drive from hotel to near Highgate to do something with the kids (is there anything reasonably nearby for them to do?), then maybe I could call him when I’m allowed to come home and he can come and pick me up and take me back to hotel.

Do you reckon I will be ok by myself? Am I allowed to be by myslef (my brother recently had wisdom tooth out under general and he had to have someone to stay with him the whole time he was at hosp?!)

Is there anyone else who has been in a similar situation? Would I be able to get taxi back to hotel by myself or would I be too out of it?!

i stayed on my own hun, my bf dropped me off then i rang him once i come round from my ga and he came in time for me to be disharged, i wanted to be on my own coz i thought it was better for myy nerves lol xx

Thanks nikki – tbh I would probably cope better by myself I was just scared that if I turned up on my own they wouldn’t operate or something! Were you ok when you came round by yourself? I think I will be – just not sure after GA?! xx

ye i was fine, i was shaking from the ga first of all and dropping in an out of conciousness as the ga was wearing off but once i was awake properly i just rang him, i felt fine being on my own, i even had a nap b4 my opp lol fell asleep watching loose women i was gutted coz i missed more or less the whole thing lol xx

That souns like a plan to me….I NEVER get 5 mins to myself at the moment so might be quite nice to have some chillout time – and at least I can have a decent sleep after ga without feeling bad cos there’s someone watching over me. Thanks – you’ve made me feel a lot better – just getting jitters now and again! lol xxx

Chrissy, my boyfriend came with me but I was pleading to go on my own as I didn’t want to have to worry about someone sitting there tapping their fingers. I would have been fine on my own. x

my hubby and i took a walk around highgate as we were early and it was a lovely day didnt pass a park but there must be one as theres a primary school down the road also the staff at highgate are amazing and will look after you good luck xxx

Thanks girls! Just added you lisam and just acepted you ritam. Sort of feels like I wont be on my own anyway as I’ll have all the support from the girls on here – its fab! xx

What a dilema hun. I felt confused about the whole do I stay overnight or in a hotel situation. My mums got my kids so me and the other half are gonna use the time for a break over night even if I can go home. So I feel lucky now… It must be hard not having anyone for the kids, feel for you hun x
