Itchy scars :-(

Plaster disaster today. Dressings fell off. Even the new dressings what walk in centre kindly done for me. So I left the scars open with the small steri strips over them. Hope that will be ok. The nurse said it should be. Got to wait till Friday to have the stitches out. I’m a week post op tomorrow. This is e first time I’ve experienced the itchy scars. It’s horrible! I wish I could I have them out sooner. Im sure girls have had them out at 7 days. How come they booked me in for 10 days?? Xx

I’m booked in for 9 days as that was the earliest they could see me! I have ordered some dermatix scar sheets but not sure how soon before they can be used, they aid the healing so if your scars are itchy, maybe you can ask nurse if you can use them when your stitches are out? I got them on ebay for £25

Ah ok cool. Ive not been told about getting any scar sheets. I heard on here about the steri strips or something and I’ve seen in boots there’s strips to help heal scaring and bio oil etc. It was 30 off pound whatever I was looking at. I may ring up tomorrow and ask what to buy so it’s ready for Friday. X

You should be fine without the plaster as the nurse removed mine on day 7 anyway, mine are dissolvable stitches so not sure on how long they leave you with take out stitches in for. My scars have itched a bit more near the scars and not actually on them, they just hurt a bit more than anything, i’m 12 days PO. xx

Cool. Thanks kd2011. Mine are the same. Justthe area around the scars. Just feel itchy. Bit annoying nits only happened since the plasts have been off. So this afternoon. I’ve escaped any other pain though. So far it’s been a doddle. I’m surprised lol xxx

have you not had any pain or anything? lucky you!! i didn’t really at first but i have had shooting pains in my left boob and feel like i have a sunburnt feeling on my boobs, really strange and they really hurt in the morning, cant wait to feel like there mine xx

No kd2011. I’ve escaped all the pain for some reason. Lol. Not that I’m complaining mind! Just have the itchy scar area to deal with now.

emily tinas right itching is a sign they are healing so its all good!!! xxx i waited 2 weeks till i saw nurse cos i wanted my scars fully healed on the outside before the strips came off and im glad i waited as my scars are already almost white xxxx

ah really? i was panicing thinking there more the skin healed the more it would hurt to be ripping out the stitches! I am glad i am waiting till 10 days then.
