Just got the news this week that my op is cancelled due to the increased covid restrictions. Had been booked for 22nd January, now looking like 16th April.
I had saved up loads of annual leave so I could just take holidays as I don’t really want folk at work to know why I’m off. Since the new date will take me into the following year’s annual leave entitlement, I have a bit of an issue. It’s only under exceptional circumstances that we’re allowed to carry days from the previous year. I have a pretty physical job so I had wanted to take at least 3 weeks off. What do you say to your boss without talking them the exact reason why? Just say it’s a private procedure?
