letter from gp?

i’ve seen two gp’s and both of them said they didnt understand why they had to write a letter and refused to do it! so now i cant get surgery and i’m stuck at what to do now x

also one gp printed off my medical notes which i faxed to holborn clinic and was told thats not what they wanted x

why do you need your gp to write a letter? xxx

coz i got previous mental health problems x

Can you not offer to pay them for a the letter you need? Hope you don’t mind me asking you but did you tell them your history or did they contact your dr directly and find out? Xx

oh right i see ,, i had depression and was on happy pills the lot but this didnt effect mine and on my pre op they request stuff from the gp themselves so can they not sort it out? xxx

i told them myself then the consultant said he cant do the op and left the room x

Same too, my surgery was postponed on the 3rd feb, because they cudnt get records, my gp is being very difficult and won’t write the letter says I have got to go for a double appointment to disscuss it all just hoping it gets sorted x

this is ridiculous the gp should just release the records absolutely bizzarre xx

i just dont really know what mya want either because they said its not the medical records that they wanted, but they wanted a letter x

a letter to say what? if you dont mind me asking what type of mental illness did you have or have? xxx

was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and used to self harm. i dont know, they just said they wanted a letter from the gp and that medical notes isnt what they wanted so im sort of left hanging lol x

Mya don’t want my records wither they just want a letter stating they Think I’m healthy enough, mine is because I had self esteem issues. It’s really silly how it works xx

maybe thats what they want from my gp. ive found everyone really rude so far! i was in tears when the surgeon told me he couldnt do it, i had the date booked and everything and angry that no-body told me about it. whilst trying to get a refund which is taking weeks, im trying to get a letter still from the gp! so complicated x

oh my word you would of just thought your gp would do the letter it isnt hard to say yous are healthy and stable for the operation- i was lucky to not need this by the sounds of things then i really hope yous both get it sorted soon xxx

Book an appointment with the gp just explain u are booked for surgery and you have paid and that u cannot have it done without a letter stating that you are healthy n stable enough to go ahead, they should do it. Ye me too mind was booked 4 3rd of Feb and it got cancelled 3 days before its gutting spesh when mum n my partner had taken time off work to have kids etc xx

so have you sorted yours out now then beckie? yeah i would make an appointment and refuse to leave until you have a letter stating your well enough xxx

I don’t know if they will do it or not till o see my gp on tuesday as they my gp has requested I see my gp 1st to discuss my past problems and then they said they can send the letter if I’m stable fit enough lol, but I have been given another date by mya just incase which is 16th march just hoping I get the go ahead now xx

im gonna go gp yet again haha, and really go on that i need a letter! i’ve heard you have to pay £20 for it but i’ll do anything now really haha x

I Think some charge but some don’t just depends mine havnt said I have to pay anything yet but you never know they wil prob say it when I go on tuesday lol xx

I said to mya I didn’t want them to contact my gp (after initially ticking the contact gp box on form) I have suffered from depression and didn’t want them to know in case i had to cancel my op. So far so good!! Can’t you tell mya u don’t want your gp to know? U have a right x

Hi Sammaa,I need a letter from my doctors too to say I can have the BA cause ive suffered with depresion.

My GP said he didnt understand why anyone would want a BA and that he wouldnt write a letter. He did say he would respond when the nurse got in touch after the pre-op just to say he thinks im healthy enough to get it done.

Hopefully he will do this in time cause my BA is next week.

Maybe you could do the same and just ask that your GP respond to the clinic xx

Sophie that is absolutely outrageous!! Your GP’s personal opinion on something should not matter, its his job!!! A GP at my old surgery was catholic and so didn’t believe in birth control, i could still go and see him for my check up etc, he would just get someone else to write the script, no judgement or questions asked! xx

that is outrageous sophie , they aren’t there for a presonal opinion, i suffered from depression quiet bad and mya didnt even make me get a letter so this must be a new thing that they are doing gob smacked at what your doc said though sophie xxx

Hi girls, don’t the doctors realise that sometimes we have low self esteem and don’t like the way we look, that is why we r having BA’s to try and help feel better about ourselfs!

I needed an ECG from the doc which they did and sent off to MYA, at the end of the day it’s our choice!

As I’m overweight and my blood pressure was high but as my nurse said I’m still healthy!

Don’t worry this will get sorted. I cried loads when MYA phoned to say I needed my blood pressure to be lower as I thought they wouldn’t do it, but they did and I’m now 7wks post op xx

I would make a complaint if i were you hun, he has no right to say any of that to you! As a doctor it would be reasonable to ask if you were fully aware of what the procedure entails and inform you of the risks, but the reponse you got is disgusting! We go to see a doctor for their help not their judgement and he had no right upsetting you xx
