So I thought I should give a fair review based on my own experience with the Mya Team and Mr. Joliffy for the Vaser Lipo surgery today.

I went to few clinic to have consultations. Funny thing is some of the doctors are not interested to do Vaser since it takes time and cheaper than Breast implementation. But luckily I met Cloe (my patient consultant) and Mr. Joliffy. Cole is very friendly and talkative, which made Mr. Joliffy seems even more introvert. He doesn’t talk much but he is very professional, no selling schemes, all about the honest suggestions, very efficient.

My operation was booked about a month after the consultation. At this time period, I paid all my fees, sent over my ID for age reason. Also had my Pre Operation Consultation ( height, weight, blood pressure, blood test, GP letter, photos of the op area, go through the before/ after surgery care paperwork). I had this with Lourdes, she is very nice, friendly and careful about details – she will make sure everything health related is done properly before your surgery.

As suggested, you cannot smoke or drink or take fish oils, etc. before the Op for at least a week. They will give you a huge list to follow up, don’t worry too much, just read carefully …

    / A day before the Op /

I bought myself a good inflatable bed from Amazon with the built-in pump, and put it in my living room. I made a nice cozy bed covered with some fresh towel and lots of pillows- I heard I will leek a lot of ‘body fluid’ after the op, I wasn’t sure what it is, but I was sure I didn’t want anything messy on my bed… Also, my bedroom is as upstairs, the toilet is downstairs, I really didn’t want to go up and down all the times after the Op. I slept at 11 pm with some food, and woke up at 6:30 am, took a nice shower, removed all the nail polish, jewelry, made sure no face cream or makeups, and made it 7:30am to the clinic.

    / On the day /

After a quick check-in, nurse Ewa took me to a nice little warm private room with TV, ventilation fan tower and individule bathroom. She helped me to change, gave me the knee height socks to prevent blood clots to wear, explained and checked me again with the general health and allergy details.

After that, the anesthetist came in, I forgot his name, but he is a very lovely man. He double checked all the health conditions again and then explained me the differences between local and general anesthesia. He recommended me to do local anesthesia according to my size and the areas for lipo- I am about 168cm and 63kg, and I only have some stubborn fat around my waist and back flanks. However, I have chosen general anesthesia instead, because I really didn’t want to wake up at the mid of the op and follow the doctor’s order to turn around, etc. I’d rather sleep from the start to the end and let the doctor do everything. Altho with general anesthesia, you will have longer recovery period with all the dizzy, drowsy, coldness, sickness etc… After that, we signed the risk agreement.

Then Mr. Joliffy came in, he marked the op areas, he was happy and more talktive today, maybe just want to make me feel less stressed. Overal it was a very nice, professional and efficient time with him.

The annoying part was you are not allowed to eat for 8 hours before your Op, and only allowed to drink water until 2 hours before the Op. I was so thirsty and almost begging for water. But since if you have fluid in your stomach during anesthesia, it can run inside of your lung and that is actually very dangerous, so I didn’t complain too much…

There was a little delay since I was the second one of the day to use the theater. The first patient was late, so I had to wait. My suggestion is to sign up for the earliest slot for the Op appointment as possible. Otherwise, you might end up to wait for very long time because of other patients before you, and beware you cannot eat or drink during all this time.

Around 11:30 am, the nurse took me to the anesthesia room. The anesthetist was already there, I had been asked to lay down on a trolly bed, the room temperature was bit cold, the anesthetist told me this is for the anti-infection reason. However, they did put a cozy blanket on me, so it was okay. The anesthetist checked my blood pressure, heartbeat once more, then put a intravenous detaining needle on the back of my hand. He was joking that’s gonna be the most painful moment in the whole Op process ( he was kind of right). After few mins, he injected the liquids, first the clear one, then the white liquid, the white one was a badass… I didn’t even notice what’s going on, everything already finished!

    / Post Op/
I woke up by the voice of two nurses at 3 pm, they were trying to ask me to lift up my back so they can put the garment on me. It was awfully uncomfortable- from the dizziness, sickness, and lighted head, and also the faintly pain of the Op areas. I asked the nurse for a container to puke, but since I didn’t eat or drink for more than 15 hours, there wasn’t anything to throw up. I don’t remember too much about that room anymore, but it was definitely really really bad feeling, anxious, cold, wet from the leeking, sickness, cannot really even see or focus properly.

After few mins a male nurse took me back to my room, it was so nice and warm. Nurse Ewa was already there waiting for me, she was so lovely and caring with all her heart. I was bit freaked out with the leaking- it’s a mixture of blood and body fluids from the Op. And IT WAS UNSTOPPABLE. She stayed with me, changed the cotton pad under my garment over and over. She was checking my blood pressure and waking me up to ask me to drink more water, because I was sleeping all the times and my blood pressure dropped low. She helped me to go to the toilet to pee and even put the period pad on for me since it was leakage everywhere and so not comfortable…

Around 5 pm, I felt bit better, Ewa prepared me some toast with Nutella and berry jam and pot of tea, she even opened the little jam bottle for me. I was so touched … I ate my food, slept for another half hour, around 7:30 pm my friend came over to pick me up. Before they release me, the other medical adviser doctor came in, explained to me how to take the antibiotics and the painkillers. The other nurse came and wrapped me around with the waterproofed cotton pad, in case I get any leakage on my trousers.

We called a Uber and got home by 8:30pm. I had to unwrap and then wrap myself again with the black towel I bought earlier. Also, cover my bedsheets with the waterproofed cotton pad and some more towel… the leaking was crazy, I couldn’t even stand there for a min because the liquid will just drip down.

I took my antibiotics and fall into sleep until 1 am, and now typing here. The leaking has stopped, but the pain has revealed, mainly on my back flanks… but it’s bearable as long as I don’t move around. I am still wearing the knee height socks to prevent blood clots, it has been 22 hours since i put them on, it gets very itch, but I cannot really remove them until I can move around freely.

(That’s it for now, I will update you guys tmr:) )

    / Day 3-4 /

Last 2 days were horrible… I caught flu, sneezing all the times and it hurts the wounds and bleeding each time… I had fever as well…. I had to loss the garment a little in order to breath that night, but I couldn’t put it back on properly. I thought it was hopeless, especially I have the post check appointment the next day, the clinic might just asks me to wait until then. But after I call the Mya reception, the on call clinic called me back and arranged me to see the nurse within 2 hours!

The nurse was so nice to me, he took me back to my little warm room. He changed the dressing and cleaned up everything, I was still carrying the drain, it smelled really bad. He didn’t care and he was extra careful and put the garment back on for me. He gave me some new pills for the flu, fever and pain. In the end, he even walked me until the entrance.

I felt much better that night. Leaking stoped, and I felt like wanting food. I still slept almost the day but with less pain and the fever went down.

I went to have my drain bag removed at day 4. Nurse Lourdes was taking care of me, she cleaned the wound, removed the drain. I was bit scared since it was first time I saw my wounds and actually stand there without support of the garment and vest. But it was fine and it wasn’t hurt at all. She put new waterproofed dressings on me and taught me how to wear the vest and garment at home by myself, she also told how to trim the vest into the best fit for my body. She told me I am allowed to take shower from now on. I was much happier after the check today, I can move much faster and more flexible but with less pain.

After the appointment I went back home, checked myself in the mirror before the shower. TBH I can see I’m about one size down now and with better curve around the waist. But the skin is still kind of ‘floating’ or ‘swollen’ in the there. However, it is only the 4th day since the surgery. I guess it is normal.

I will updated by 17th of Oct, after my next appointment.

    Around waist – 72cm (was 78cm)

Went for 2 sessions of MLD massage already. Can see obvious few scar tissues ( lumps). But the MLD therapist said its okay and it will go away eventually. Also, I am still very numbed and swollen on my flanks…

So I am just trying to be very patient now…

    hi Mechaela,

My surgeon is very introvert but he is just so skilful! My MLD therapist saw me today the 3rd time ( itā€™s the 3rd week post op for me), she just couldnā€™t believe her eyes and she is thinking to do it as well now šŸ™‚

My waist was 82cm around belly bottom, now
Is 73cm !!! And itā€™s pretty swollen -means still have room to shrink at least 5cm!

Anyway best luck for ur tummy tuck šŸ˜‰

    Best regards,

    Asha

Hi ads Iā€™m considering getting lipo on stomach and flanks and would love your advice. Iā€™m not very big so keep questioning whether itā€™s worth it or if Iā€™m being silly. Do you feel yours was worth the cost the pain and the aftermath? Were you that big before? Iā€™m a size 8-10 but I feel like my stomach is so out of proportion and Iā€™ve always hated it!

    Hi.
I am also wondering the same!
I wear a size 8 jeans, & I have a slim waist, but after 3 children my skin at the front forms a big tyre when I sit down. I work out regularly & eat quite well. Just donā€™t know if itā€™s worth the few Ā£Ā£!!! X

    Hi Emma,

Iā€™m 168 cm between 57-62 kg normally. And also about your size. I had same consideration before the operation. Because I saw lots of pictures of other patients online. Iā€™m not even near their size… and all my friends were telling me Iā€™m perfect in cloths, they all think ā€œ whatā€™s the pointā€?

But I hated the fact when I sit down the ā€œinvisibleā€ or ā€œ hiddenā€ belly fat all shows immediate like 3 layers muffin tops… and I know itā€™s there. I worked out a lot and started dieting since I was 17. Now Iā€™m 30, I am still extremely struggling everyday with food and exercise. If I go little lazy on diet or workouts, it all shows on my tummy. Immediately.

To me, it worth the money, and the pain is bearable. Now itā€™s a month after my surgery. I can wear jeans and sit there comfortably without worrying about my belly. I can eat 3 meals a day healthily like a normal person without over think about calories and exercise. And my abs are finally revealed from all the workouts I did before the surgery.

Most importantly, I feel much more confident, comfortable and happier, and donā€™t have to worried about my belly everyday.

Only thing I hate the most now is I cannot go bk to the gym yet- I want to have stronger and more defined abs, simply because I can see the gym result much faster now after all the fats gone. However, I have to wait for one more month for recovery :p

Anyway, itā€™s just my opinion. Hope itā€™s not to wordy!

    Warm regards,

    ASD

    Hi PinkButterfly,

Plz see the reply to Emmaā€™s above. In short I would say it worth it! Everyone from the team was so caring from their heart. And I was scared about many things: result, lumps, post operation caring… but so far so good and Iā€™m extremely happy with my result. My MLD therapist said after seen my result, she wants to do it too šŸ™‚

However, do have a free consultation with the team, see what they say regards to ur condition. I cannot gareentee result because we all different individuals and Iā€™m not a doctor. But donā€™t worry, they will tell you if they have any consideration according to your situation:)

Thanks ads so helpful! What are your views on the garment is it really bulky? Thatā€™s now one of my bigger concerns is I want to be able to hide it under clothes but it looks huge!!

    Hi Emma,

There are two parts, vest and the garment. Vest is like very thick … tbh you cannot hide if you need to go to work in the office. This will with you for 4 weeks. Iā€™m my case, because I didnā€™t have to go to work everyday, and itā€™s induvidual work so it was easier for me. And my huge problem was I only had one oversize trousouse could fit the vest around the waist.

Garment is okay tho, like normal clothes. Nobody will see it. It will be with you for 6 weeks.

So if you gonna do it, for the vest, you probably should prepare some large trousers home…

    Hope that helps!

    Best regards,

    ASD

Hi ads, just wondered how your recovery/results are now a few months after surgery? I am looking to have vaser on my flanks as my hips/flanks that have stubborn fat which wonā€™t go no matter how much I exercise. Iā€™m 5ft 8, slimish build but always where baggy clothes to hide my hips, size 8 on top 10-12 on bottom.
How was the pain on scale of 1 to 10, and did you have to have drains. They didnā€™t mention these in my consultation with dr joffily. Did you only have consultation with him. Sorry for all the questions, thanks
