Long stitches. Anyone?

Hey girls. Had my 525 overs 11 days ago now and my long stitches are like shrinking? Like they were so long, 8cm each side of my incisions now they are like 2cm! Im supposed to be having them trimmed on Friday but there’ll be nothing to trim at this rate?! Normal???? Where have they gone lol!!

They are dissolveable sutures so they do disappear so if they have dissolved by Friday I would ring the nurse and cancel but just let her no that they have dissolved now. I am nearly 3 weeks post op mine have dissolved but not fully x

With surgery a scar is always longer in size and then heals (shrinks) from the surface of the skin hence the scar appears smaller which is good! Who wants a long scar anyway right?
Still see your nurse its good to keep up with your check ups… Dissolvable stitches are broken down by our bodies so that’s what’s happened and it’s normal and yes signs that you are healing well x

Hi Hun I have one stitch which the nurse said she cut but about one cm still hanging out but not been told to go back and have it removed – not sure if I should ring and ask again?! I would def go get them checked – as @candybabey said it’s always good to keep up with check ups – I’d quite like one just to get the thumbs up everything is going ok as nothing for five weeks now til my surgeon appointment xx

I dont mean my scar being long babe I mean my actual stitches! Like hanging out haha. Its even smaller today so weird how it just shrinks. Im rearranging the appointment for the week after as travelling 2 hours each way is too much especially as I only went last week! X

Looked at ur scar pics and I see what u mean by the long string of stitch sticking out. Wonder if he will do that to me too xx
