Hey sorry if its been asked loads before, but does everyone have to massage their boobs? My pc mentioned it to me at 2weeks but said it was too early to do it, I had my 6 week check and my surgeon didn’t mention it and I forgot to ask? So can anyone help me? When do you have to do it, for how long etc? Thanks xxx

I just read this on so fem…..

You should only massage your implants if you’ve been advised to do so. The logic behind textured implants is that they shouldn’t be massaged… They were designed so that the body would form tissue to bind to the implant surface (rather than continually trying to create tissue and not being able to bond with smooth implants, thus leading to capsular contracture due to excessive tissue formation). By massaging textured implants, you’re breaking the bonds that have just formed so the body then has to keep creating more, which is then creating the situation that textured implants were created to avoid.

Saying that, the evidence that textured implants actually reduce the occurrence of CC is still unproved as such, so it’s all a bit theoretical. However maybe this is because so many people are massaging their textured implants so it skews the figures? Some surgeons still do advise massaging textured implants, while others stand by the theory that they shouldn’t be. The logic behind them is that they shouldn’t be massaged though, so I’d only do it if your surgeon has advised you to.
