Will massaging etc all be explained to me at pre-op or on the day of surgery? Or are we basically left to fend for ourselves? Lol…
Op isn’t until August, but I am so confused on when you can start massaging them, wearing these strips on your scars… showering etc etc etc
There sure is A LOT more to this whole procedure than first meets the eye!! Lots you have to know about well ahead of time, plus I like to be super organised, so knowing everything 3 months before my date suits me fine
haha
Thanks girls

I had to ask about massaging at my one week post op with the nurse, she said don’t worry about any of that stuff until six weeks and she said you just do it with the palm of your hand….i’ve been doing it all along though really as have been rubbing bio oil in every night so same thing!
You can shower and bath etc in the first week just don’t get the incisions or dressing wet and then when you go for you one week post op the nurse will check if you’re healing OK and if you are she’ll tell you to have a shower in the next couple of days and get the steri strips really wet (no soap) and peel them off. From then on you can shower and bath but just rinse the incisions with clean water and make sure no soap goes near them. They tell you to get a baby wash to use just in case it gets on them…..
xx
If you need to wash your hair..silly as it sounds, how hard would it be to sort of bend over the bath and let your boyfriend or your mum wash it for you?
Feel silly asking but the thought of not washing my hair is a bit much lol xx
My boyfriend had to wash mine for me over the sink as we haven’t got a bath, i just sat in a chair with my head back in the sink like in a salon! It’s not really that hard, is easy enough to flick your head over you just can’t lift your arms up too much in the first couple of weeks or get water/soap in your scars…. xx
I was told massaging at the early stages (e.g. before 6 weeks) increases the risk of capsular contracture and that you should only start massaging when the surgeoun/nurse has told you to xxxx
Whoooppppssss
Hope i don’t get it now although saying that haven’t really been doing much, just rubbing the oil on xx
Can’t lift your arms in the first couple of WEEKS? ohh dear
Well you can but you’re not supposed to because it can set back the healing process…. you’re not supposed to lift anything heavy or reach up too high or do anything strenuous at all in the first six weeks xx
Thanks for all your help girlies… so basically listen to what your nurse/surgeon tells you to do? Lol
I am so excited, but I can’t get ahead of myself, as I have 13 weeks left!! Haha
xx
