Menstruating.

Does anybody know if your surgery still goes ahead if you are on your period??

Hi i was on my period and they said to make sure i wore a sanitary towel during surgery, that’s all. I had read that too and i panicked xx

the nurse at my pre op last week said it might affect the op date! guess it’s different whereever you go? i’m with MYA.

I think maybe just the sanitary towel thing rather than a tampon will be so if there’s any large amount of blood loss then its visible. Other than that i don’t see how it would affect surgery xx

It’s fine Hun. I asked my nurse and she said we are not going anywhere near there so no problem lol. I’m on mine too and mines Tuesday. Don’t worry it’s fine :)) x

No problem at all hun just make sure to let you Dr know as it can cause you to bleed a little more due to your blood being thinner around this time, I was on during my first ba and it was no issue at all, x

I had cosmetic gynaecology and obviously wasn’t allowed to be on my period during that so was prescribed norethisterone (sp). My surgeon said its also incase you have a very heavy blood loss after surgery they need to monitor how much you lose if you know what I mean, so that’s why you aren’t supposed to be on your period. norethisterone is fab though you just have to start it 3 days before youre due on and then stop when youre ready to come on 🙂 x
