So I am hoping to go back to college then uni this year, i want to do nursing or midwifery at uni so i need to do a access course first as i flopped it at school lol!

Just wondering whether people have gone through uni to be a nurse or something similar? Or peoples opinion or advice on uni?

My mum isnt very supportive, she thinks i wont be able to do it financially or otherwise but this makes me want to prove her wrong, my boyf and best friend are very very supportive so i will not be alone just would of been nice to have parents behind me!

Any advice or opinions welcome and appreciated xx

I did a home based degree so I could own and manage a care home with hubby.

I was 40 at the time and acre-direction in life was the best thing I’ve done.

Hi, I did an access course last year with the idea of going to uni to be a nurse or midwife. I really enjoyed the access course and the reason I didnt go to uni was because I have a young son and in the end just realised it was too many hours. Midwifery is very hard to get into I had an interview for it for chester uni and they interview 500 and only had 34 places. However nursing is easier to get onto everyone on my course who applied for nursing got a place and they all really enjoy it. I know that you can apply for a bursey and Im pretty sure thats £10,000 (but I might be wrong). I’m still friends with loads of the girls I was on the access course with who are now at uni doing nursing so if you want I can ask the if they would talk to you about it on facebook. Hope this helps xx

Erghhhhhhhhhhh i just wrote a long reply and it got lost! So annoying!!

Thanks cazz24, so good to talk to someone who has done the access course and have good feedback! I have interviews for 2 colleges so i will go to them and see if i could even get in lol!

    Thanks Jwalker, means alot!

Leah its the scariest thought not being to work full time isnt it, i know i will really struggle financially but it will be worth and will set me up for life…I work as a part time home carer now (alongside a full time job lol) and i love it but could not do it full time purely cus of the hours and things but i love the work and have always wanted to do nursing! I think its now or never really at 22, i either need to do it or get over the fact i am stuck in a dead end office job that i hate and get on with it lol think uni sounds better haha! xx
