Moisturising before op…

My op is Tues morning and my nurse has been stressing at me not to moisturise ANY bit of me 24hrs before op, but I always do my face after a wash in morning and night, and do my bod after I jump out of the shower. How strict were you girls with this? xx

I’d do face only but wash your hands afterwards.

It’s best to be clean and fresh. They wouldn’t advise you not to do it if it was ok.

Better to be safe chick.

On the morning of my op I’m showering and moisturising my face, thats it. I know your skin might feel a bit tight

Think I’m gunna do the same as you babe. Shower and a face wash, but only put a bit of gentle moisturiser on my face.

You should be fine moisturising your face, hun. Best to avoid your body since they have to stick those heart monitor things to you during the op. If your skin is oily, they don’t stick too well. Also, your surgeon has to draw lines on you and the pen marks won’t stay on if your skin is oily.

She even said face was a no go! But I’m gunna be a rebel lol. Can live without doing body for one day anyway, that’s not really a big issue. And she said I could do it right after if I wanted to xx

I think they are strict about moisturiser because you are going in to a sterile area,germs may cling to the moisturiser no matter how light it is,one day out of your life to be safe is nothing.These guidelines are given for good reason,they know what they are talking about,but i think it would help if someone told you why,then perhaps none of us would take the risk,xxx Good luck.

I was told no moisturiser at all! Its just for a few hours so i wouldn’t bother, you can do it straight after – thats what i did x

Ok thanks girls. I don’t want to be silly and try and risk it for the sake of it, like you say Tina it might have helped if she told me why! My face just gets very tight and try after I was it but I guess it will be bareable! Xx
