On the 28th April, early evening at Fitzroy I underwent surgery to correct a very rushed c-section.
I’d had 4 children, 3 by c-section & the last really was the “nail in the coffin” in ruining any form of beach body that I had in mind!
I’d lost a little over a stone since New Years Eve. Not a huge achievement, but certainly a big step in the right direction. I’m only 4ft 11inches so weight doesn’t carry well on my small frame. Before my operation I weighed 8.13lbs, so a little heavy for my height but not too much. My goal is 8stone, then I’ll be happy!
Mr Max Marcellino is my surgeon & together we decided to “limit my operation” to my “top 3 issues”. To be honest I would have happily paid for a total body overhaul! After lots of appointments & discussion we both agreed we would do…
A full standard abdo (full tummy tuck) – Mr Marcellino felt I was borderline for a mini over a full because I actually didn’t have loose skin, my skin was quite taught, nor did I have any stretch marks. What I had was scar tissue that had been stuffed back in by the NHS in a quick fix to get me & our then baby stable & settled as I was loosing lots of blood whilst they were performing my 3rd & last c-section. So without baffling on, it was explained to me that a tummy tuck is a bit like pulling down a blind on a window, mine would be a challenge because I didn’t have that much to pull down, though from the side I looked 4 months pregnant, not a good look! I couldn’t see myself being happy with a “mini tummy tuck” since that really only deals with issues from the belly button down & I felt my stomach needed a bigger overhaul as I wanted really good results! After much discussion Mr Marcellino decided he would pull out all the stops & perform a full standard, I was thrilled about this!
We agreed I could have Vaser for fat to be removed from my flanks too. Though Mr Marcellino only removed 1 litre. Now the thing is with Vaser it’s not actually like we read it on google “up to 5 litres can be removed with Vaser”. No it doesn’t actually work like that! Especially when you throw a full tummy tuck into the mix! The amount of vaser removed is dependant on many things… Your blood flow, your other operations that can cause you to be a higher risk, neighbouring major blood vessels that are in close proximity to other surgical areas and so forth as well as how your surgeon operates & the risks they are personally willing to take on board regarding your body.
I can honestly say that I completely trusted Mr Marcellino & I knew that if he removed 1 litre it was because to remove more would have put my health at risk. For anyone thinking of having these procedures it’s not so much quantity it’s more quality of what can be achieved & the risks involved. I knew Mr Marcellino would give me the best results that were medically possible, for me I didn’t get hung up on the amount of litres removed. More importantly I can always go back for more, in fact that will no doubt be my plan for other areas of my body.
Boobs… I’d breast fed our 4 children too. My boobs were “not too bad” considering this. No loose skin, not totally deflated either BUT they were asymmetric, I didn’t know this until Mr Marcellino pointed this out! I was a borderline uplift case because of this, I decided with my hubby that short of looking like a patch work doll I’d go for a standard BA & in 5 years time, then I can decide wether or not to have an uplift. We decided I’d have 325cc in my left breast and 300cc in my right. Both high profile overs, which means over the muscle not under & the reason this was done was because I already had a good amount of my own tissue to sit nicely over my new implants. I’m not sure what I measured before in a bra but they are certainly nice & full now, albeit a little swelled.
So here you are… my before & after pics!
I can’t show you a side photo yet because I am not allowed to stand upright, I’ve been told by Mr Marcellino & Stefan my doctor in charge that my body is “stronger than my stitches” if I pull up straight I could break fragile stitches so for now it’s just selfies whilst laying flat. I’ll post more pics as the weeks progress.
It’ll take time to see these results, at least 12 weeks & anyone thinking of having these procedures should try understand it comes with a long recovery, you’ll need lots of help at home. You’ll be swelled & puffy too, I’ve gained 4lbs since my operation which I’m gutted about but the fact is water is weight & there’s no fast way with getting rid of it, it’s all part of big surgery, so yep I’m swelled, I’ve been careful of what I eat too!
In regards to my experience would I recommend MYA? In all honestly HELL YEAH! My nurses came to me to scratch my itching back at 2am! They helped me whilst I constantly threw up for over 48 hours! They cared for me in a way that in my opionion was above what they needed to do because they were nurses, my team really really cared about me, nothing was too much trouble! My PC’s Olivia & Naomi can’t do enough for me either, they are always available to me answering any concerns. As for my surgeon Mr Max Marcellino well I just don’t know where to start, he has been a legend & I’m not an easy patient because at times I wanted too many procedures & my expectations in all honesty can be a bit high to say the least! But Mr Marcellino has been brilliant from start to finish & I can’t wait to see my end results! So far I’ve seen Mr Marcellino 4 times since being discharged from Fitzroy, so if after care is a concern my experience tells you I personally have a ton of aftercare, in fact I’m back again on Thursday! Here’s how it’s looking 6 days post op! Im not finished yet but I’m SO HAPPY with how it’s looking so far!

3rd time lucky, before & after pics! These are just 6 days post operation. I’ve still got my stitches in, these need to be removed over the next 10 days. Obviously I have a heap load of stitches internally! As I write this I’m exactly 14 days post op. Nothing has changed the only difference is the bruising is not a vibrant, my swelling is still the same no better, no worse. My scars are still crazy red & ive been given extra courses of antibiotics to support any infection as that’ll be my worse nightmare! I still cannot take a shower which is driving me crazy, as is the itching from the vaser! My garment has been fab it’s quite pretty & I can hide it easily under black leggings or a bohemian style dark coloured dress. My main issues as I sit here 14 days post op are 1) I still am bent over still can’t walk much at all I’m bored stiff & my back aches plus my scars get sore! 2) I do anything for a long hot soak in a nice warm bath! 3) exercise & walking much is a no go & Im constantly checking my weight which is still up due to all the swelling!
Anyway we finally managed to upload these pics! Hope you find them helpful, I’ll post more when I can.
Any questions please just ask, I’ll be brutally honest about these procedures! All I’ll say is having 3 procedures done in one hit is not to be taken lightly! I honestly felt like I’d literally fallen down a lift shaft after my operation it was a big procedure, though I’m so so glad I did it & im so glad I chose Mr Marcellino!

    Hi Julie

My recovery is going well thank you. I was 6 weeks post op on Friday. I was borderline for a mini but really pushed for a full ad Mr Marcellino felt if he could achieve the “pull down” I’d be happier with my results. I didn’t have much lose skin but had lots of scar tissue! He did manage a full TT with a small amount of vaser plus my BA.
    I bet your so excited?!
Regarding recovery, you’ll need someone to help you at home in the first 2-3 weeks especially if you’ve young children or pets. You can’t lift anything & it’s very important you stay bent over at an angle for the full 6 weeks to get best results!
Thank you for the compliment, I can now wear jeans without the muffin top over hang but I’ve still more weight to lose & im very swelled still. Seeing end results takes time (many months) & with your recovery it’s a case of you needing to be very patient with everything.
Good luck with your operation, very exciting!

Hi Angela can I ask who is doing your procedures? I want the exact same but max would only do removal /re implant and uplift . I went in also wanting vaser and or a tummy tuck šŸ™ I was sent away to give up smoking and loose some weight.
Im seeing him again in September to check my progress, I’m feeling the pressure
    Good luck with yours

Hi daisy id love to compare notes with you. I had a full tummy tuck with vaser to flanks on September 11th with max. As it stands I’m feeling totally rock bottom with my recovery…. my dressings came off for good yesterday along with the wrap around binder (I have 2 more weeks wearing the all in one garment)
I like you have had to have a vertical scar as there wasn’t enough skin to get rid of the old belly button but in my case I had a nasty old belly button piercing scar which was like a saggy slice of skin. Each week at my dressing change I’ve questioned what it is thinking until yesterday that it was the old belly button… well in my first shower last night I realised that actually it’s the old piercing hole! The slice and everything! The longer i stood in the shower the more it started poking out…. it looks like a pregnant belly button randomly above my vertical scar….I was literally beside myself sobbing and feel like I look deformed. I got straight on the phone to MYA and the lady was so kind and lovely but I cried myself to sleep then spent all day at work just crying. I feel like my confidence has hit the floor! I’m not finding fault in the whole op… my upper stomach is really bloated and when I sit down there’s rolls! I can’t believe it’s swelling I believe it’s fat! And it’s here to stay. I’m seeing max next week which will be week 5 but I feel so unsettled I just want to talk to someone who has the same kind of scar and also has had max work on them. Obviously my belly is a 100000 times better and I’m still happy I did it but I didn’t sign up to have a 3rd nipple or extra button above my scar. I’m so desperate for someone to say “yea I had that and now look” and my mind be put at rest. I hope this message finds you well and hopefully you can help me lol. I hope your having amazing results so far. I’ll try and add pics xxx
