I due to have my ba on the 6th of jan, I had my preop last week and one of my swabs for mrsa came back pos :( I’ve had to use nasal ointment and hibiscrub for 5 days. I’m due to be re swabbed again on thurs this week and I have been told I have to have 3 weeks of consecutive negative results before my surgery can go ahead ( so fingers crossed).

I’m just wondering if this has happened to anyone else as I’m convinced that I’ll just pick it up again, as I work in a hospital. It’d be just my luck! Any help/ reassurance would be great as I’m stressing a bit that it’s gonna be postponed :( all I need to worry about over Xmas too x

    Hi Gemma,

I work in the community and like u had positive swab but luckly had 3 negative swabs in a row and got my op. I used the hibiscub every day b4 my op just to in case the hospital swabbed me on day off the op.

Sure u will be fine. Good luck x

Thanks Pauline, I’m just getting paranoid I think…plus it smells like dog flea shampoo too lol. I’ve nearly used it all, I’ll buy some more to use on my op day, just for peace of mind. I know it’s quite common though, but when the lady told me I just felt filthy and have been a bit OCD with cleaning now haha house never been as

    Clean n tidy!!x

Hey Gemma, I work in a hospital as well, and was super paranoid about the results coming back. They were negative luckily, but whilst i was getting really worked up at the thought of having to wait til the results were cleared (if i did have it), i took comfort knowing that it could be picked up at all. The LAST thing you want is awful, horrible looking sores which will prolong your healing time a thousand-fold, and posibly leave you with permenant scarring. So chin up! Glad you are getting it sorted now ;) XX
