Hey girlies,
I had my BA four weeks ago today and thought that some of you may find my experience useful if you’re planning your BA or struggling post op.
I had 650 overs which have taken me from a B to a DD. I’m 6ft tall and size 8; my surgeon advised that i could carry relatively big implants with my frame.
For the first 5 days post op i felt absolutely dreadful. My breasts were so tight and sore and felt rock hard. They were also very very high up and looked like they’d been stuck on! The tablets were making me feel drowsy, depressed and yucky and sleeping upright was generally impossible. I had pockets of air trapped beneath my skin, sometimes i’d touch my breast and i could hear the air squelching inside, it felt awful and i wondered if it would ever go. Every morning i’d think ‘god, what have i done to myself!’ and i hated them but this didn’t last long.
A week post op i began to feel better, my breasts were dropping every day and the tight feeling was beginning to subside.
I had my dressings off and was happy to see that most of my stitches had dissolved already and i was left with just a few barely visible bits of black thread. They were redressed and the dressings came off naturally 5 days later, when i was left with two perfect little pink lines, about 2 inches in length.
Two weeks post op one of my breasts had dropped significantly, but the other was still quite high. I was worried but you have to remember that your breasts heal individually and not as a pair!
Three weeks post op and my breasts felt a bit itchy and were still almost numb to touch. The breasts at this stage had dropped enough so that they covered the scars in the crease
It’s now the end of week four. My breasts are level, the same size and shape and i have regained feeling in them, with the exception of my nipples which are still somewhat numb. I go braless whenever possible as i find it much more comfortable and i actually think it has really helped my scars heal and breasts drop naturally. It’s very very rare but some days i have little sharp pains in my breasts, maybe a few times a day. The shooting pain lasts for just a few seconds or so and then subsides. My counsellor says this is fine and will subside so i’m not worried.
I’m so happy i had my BA. Dr Adamo was great and really relaxed me. I have my 6 week consultation with him in a few weeks time and i’m pretty confident everything is ok.
Hope this is useful to some of you, just remember we all heal at different rates.
