Had my BA yesterday. Went pretty well. Here is my story…………….Arrived at Highgate yesterday on time. Im only 45 mins away so no problems with the journey but had an awful splitting head as no food since the night before.Didnt fancy waking up at 6am to have breakfast and was feeling famished by this time. Once at the hosptital it all seemed to run quite smooth
I filled in a short questionairre and then taken up to my room which was great. Had everything you could possibly need including a fan which really came in handy later on!! My bf was really impressed with the electronic bed and the plasma and everything was immaculately clean as you would expect. A lovely nurse called Marie came in and took my stats ect and spent some time having a chat which was nice as I was feeling really nervous now. A short while after the anethatist came in and asked me some questions and said that Mr Adamo would come and see me shortly.
I put on my sexy surgical stockings,paper knickers and gown and then Mr Adamo came in. He seemed very frustrated and began to explain that there had been a massive breakdown in communication with the Mya Clinic. He said they were supposed to have contacted all of the patients as there was a delay and therefore we should have been told to eat. I was feeling so hydrated by this time and my head felt as though it was gonna explode!! He said that I should have some headache tablets and water as he was going to be at least a few more hours and even had to postpone some of his patients until the following day. I felt so sorry for those girls not sure who they were. BF felt guilty as he tucked into a ham sandwich lol! But I knew he had to eat as hes a big strapping lad and needs his food. I then dropped off to sleep…… At 5pm I was woken up by the nurse it was my time to go down to theatre eeek!!!! I passed my engaement ring to my partner and he lokoked all tearful bless him. After a short walk I arrived in theatre and laying on the bed. Soo nervous at this point. I didnt really feel the catheta going in to be honest just remember shaking.The nurse asked Mr Adamo if I could have painkillers in the drip for my sore head.He said he was not surprised I had a headache and was obviously annoyed about his patients being messed around. At that point the nurse said you will drift off soon and Mr Adamo held my hand soo sweet of him……Next thing I know Im being woken up in recovery..I look down and OMG these two huge boobies are just there. I just stared and stared at them. Was then taken back to my room by 2 handsome porters I felt really rough lol!
Got back to my room at 6.15pm and lovely BF waiting(looked pale and worried) Crazy cos I was starving pre op but when food arrived which was chicken breast and veg I just could not eat it few mouthfuls and that was it. I felt so tired with BF strokng my hair and I drifted off to sleep peacefully zzzzzzzz Woke up a bit later and felt very sick and hot, that was when that fan really came in handy as the sweat was just pouring off me. The nurse assured me that it was a reaction to the anathetic and put some sort of liquid into a drip and then was fine after that.
It was 9 oclock already and time for BF to leave ohh didnt want him to go but never mind think I really needed to sleep anyway as it had been such an eventful day!!
Didnt have a bad night woke up few times and checked boobs!! Got up at 4.30!! Couldnt go back to sleep so had a wee a wash and brushed my teeth and took that horrible gown off he he!
Stuck my nice pjs on and then my breakfast arrived (full english) But again just couldnt eat. Ended up having some tea & toast (really enjoyed that!!)
BF arrived at 7.30am so got ready and we were out of there by 8.30 and we were home sweet home at 9.30.
I am feeling some discomfort as you would expect but nothing bad. Just feel a bit woozy if u know what I mean. But all pre op girls try not to worry as if I can do this anyone can !!!
Oh by the way a Mya representative came to the hospital i the morning to apologise for the mix up which I thought was very decent of them.
