Okay, I’m home, fed and have had a wee sleep! Here goes:
We arrived at the hospital at 12.30 and were shown to Room 6 at about 12.40. Room was spacious, clean with ensuite bathroom, Tv, phone ect…
Nurse came to see me at 13.30- it felt like forever! The more time I had to sit there and think about it, the more nervous I could feel myself getting, so I stuck the TV on and let “It’s me or the dog” take my mind off it! Random. SO the nurse just took a load of info any concerns I had and so on. She asked me to get into my sexy gown and paper knick knacks! A note for those of you who haven’t had it done though- if I had cotton knickers on, they would have been fine, if you have nylon knickers on then you have to change into the paper variety!!
Now the waiting really began, it seriously felt like FOREVER before Mr Traynor came in, which was at around 14.15. The first thing he said to me was “So, you’ve been on, off, on, off, on with this operation then” and I didn’t have a clue what he was on about!!?? I never bothered asking as my mind was on other things though! Anyhoo, we discussed whether i would be having the 300cc or 260cc and he said he would prefer the 260cc because a) I wouldn’t notice the difference anyway and b) He wanted to use the lighter implant to help delay further sagging. I was fine with that.
The aneasthetist came and had a joke with me, which relaxed me a wee bit and then more waiting!! Everytime someone passed the door my stomach did a somersault!
The nurse came to collect me at 15.00 and we walked around the corner to the theatre! They took my slippers and dressing gown and I was seriously holding back the tears when I went through to the aneasthetic room-that was the bit I was most nervous about. However the nurse was just lovely, as was the aneasthetist and they distracted me as the needle went it. It stung a bit but 3 deep breaths and it was over, then I just waited to drift into oblivion!
Next thing I knew I was waking up in recovery, struggling to focus and keep my eyes open! I was worried about embarassing myself talking crap (as I do when I’ve had gas and air) but I could barely string a sentence together. The nurse gave me a peek at my boobs and they looked huge! I was wheeled back to my room at 5.00pm, had some dinner at 6- chicken sandwich and fruit salad. I wasn’t as hungry as I thought I’d be, considering I hadn’t eaten since 6.15 that morning! (I set me alarm especially so I could get up and eat before the 6 hour cut off!)
The nurses checked my blood pressure a few times, which was fine, gave me some more pain killers and I just drifted in and out of sleep for the rest of the night. The pain really wasn’t that bad at all. I told them I didn’t think I needed the painkillers but they insisted on me having them so I went with it. I have to admit they are feeling a bit more achy now but I have plenty of drugs here to control it!!
I have to say the staff at that hospital are just lovely. Nothing is too much trouble and they looked after me very well.
Now for my only gripe ladies! Mr Traynor didn’t come to see me at all after my op or before I went home. I would have liked him just to pop in and tell me that everything went well. The nursing staff clearly didn’t know much about my procedure as they were asking ME questions like “So what about your stithes? (She didn’t knoe I’d had staples) Do we need to change your dressings before you go? When do you have to put your sports bra on?” Its not their fault and they were a bit annoyed that Mr T hadn’t left them ANY notes about what they should be doing. It just left me feeling a little uneasy about going home, I wanted to make sure I was doing the right things. I phoned the MYA clinic before I left though, spoke to a nurse there and she advised me what was best to do. I will be speaking to my PC about it on Thursday when I go to get my staples out. Am I being unreasonable do you think?
Anyway, thats my story ladies. I’m going to upload some before and afters now. Bear in mind they are very swollen! I’m walking like a bouncer at the minute!
All in all I had a great experience, have no regrets and love my boobs. I’m in a 34D sports bra so I don’t think they are going to be massive when they have settled, but I wanted them to look natural anyway.
If you have any questions, please fire away!
thanks for sharing hunn, i’m walking like a bouncer too! lol happy healing xx
Love reading people’s stories, thanks Tiarastara. Happy healing and pleased it’s over for you. I have to say, that’s the 2nd time today I’ve read about Mr Traynor just doing off and not taking the time to stick around to talk to his patients. Perhaps because he’s one of the best, he thinks he can get away with doing this but word of mouth is very powerful and won’t do his reputation any good. x
Thanks ladies. Having trouble uploading my pics on this website so have put them on sofem. PM me and I’ll let you know my password xxx

Hi Hun,
Great to hear your story and that everything went really well
I had an uplift and 360cc low profile unders 2 weeks ago today!!!
So happy with them but like you say they dont seem to know much! I had about 5 different nurses throughout my stay. Because I had an uplift my surgeon put the implant through that cut to avoid an incision under the boob – the nurse thought I hadnt had any implants!!! She scared me when she said that and I had just woken up!!!
Also my PC wasnt great! I think you should have had the op yourself to be a PC cause you learn so much having gone through it!!!
xxxxxxxx
Who was your PC? Mine is Kayleigh and she seems great upto now??
My patient co-ordinator is Kayleigh too. She phoned me this evening to see how I was. Haven’t met her yet as I originally had Amy, who has gone off travelling, but she seems nice. I also had a phonecall from another one of the nurses, so I think word has gotten around that I wasn’t happy!
thevaughan and melissa, that’s awful! It’s the last thing you need after going through such a big operation. But I don’t think its the nursing staff’s fault, they’ve just not been given enough info about their patients.
