Well woke up on monday morning in the hotel feeling both anxious and excited!! Could not believe my day had finally come and I began to think can I really go through with this! All my thoughts and worries from over the past few months were again going round in my head, like is my nose really that bad… can i cope with peoples reactions….aaarrgh!!

Admission time into Highgate was 10am. Was shown to my room which was lovely, plasma TV with freeview which helped to keep me entertained and my mind off the op. After about an hour of being in my room the nurse came to see me, checked my blood pressure etc and told me to get into my gown and stockings. Dr Gonschior was still in theatre but would see me soon!

3pm came and i still hadnt seen Dr G, he was still in theatre. The nurse said they were running late but that Dr G was such a good surgeon and so careful and precise in his work that sometimes surgery takes longer. I was so happy to hear this and it reassured me i had chosen the right surgeon for the job!!

Then 6pm came and Dr G knocked on my door, i signed the consent form and it was time!! I was so nervous and started to get a bit emotional as i said bye to my fiance and parents and i walked to theatre. The male anaesthetic assistant was lovely and funny which relaxed me a bit but i could actually feel my knees shaking! I saw the anaethetist put some sedative into my drip, i felt a wee bit light headed and the next thing i knew i was in the recovery room 2-3hours later!! I could not believe it, couldnt believe my surgery had been done (think i said that a million times to the nurses). Was weirdest feeling!

It was now 930pm and i was wheeled back to my room, i felt great. Had some dinner and tried to watch tv but was so tired and went to sleep! I did wake up a lot during the night with an extremely dry throat/mouth but i was in no pain whatsoever. The nurse woke me at 7am, removed my packs (not painful at all) and then i had breakie! Dr G came to see me and reassured me all went well.

Now day 3 post op and im still feeling good. No pain just a pressure type feeling over nose. i do have really bad bruising and swelling of the eyes, a lot more than i had anticipated but i phoned the mya nurse and she said not to worry, its normal. I do think its starting to go down now thankfully!!

So overall all im so so happy, can even tell with the cast on that my nose is straight and smaller, and my tip is turned up which is what i wanted!! Dr Gonschior is amazing and so friendly and pleasant to top it off!! Xx

Oh my goodness, this sounds exactly like my story, which I haven’t written, but I was meant to go in at 1pm and didn’t go in till gone 3pm, at which point I said to the anesthetist that it was okay, I had changed my mind, anyway then he started to take my hand to get the anesthetic in and that was it off…. woke up 2.5 hours later with a smaller nose, dry mouth and chatting gibberish, I was asking everyone if they liked their jobs and thanking them for bringing me back to life…

Anyway I am now 7 days post op my stitches have come out, the scar looks okay and I went out today looking rather fabulous, yeah I had a cast on my face, yeah I looked a bit like Adam Ant but ya know I think I still rocked it….kinda.

My cast comes off on Tuesday and I so cannot wait…and it really isn’t as bad as I imagined and it’s just 5 more sleeps till I get my new nose… I really am so excited. I hope that your recovery goes smoothly. I have been using arnica cream and eating shed loads of pineapple and that really helps the bruising!!

    Happy healing hun xxx

Aww, thank you hun… Yes best not to pick it. I don’t think Mr G would approve. ;) I am so very very uber super excited about the cast coming off, I might just pee my pants a bit when it does eventually come off. This has been the longest 8 days of my life so far, it’s like the land where time stood still!!! xxx

Hey Staceylouise90, im so happy i went through with it (wish i had done it sooner). Got my cast off today and although it was so weird seeing my new nose at first, i now love. Just have to be patient now and wait for the swelling to go down!! Good luck for your op!! x
