Hi bonangel – I don’t think they will contact your GP if you have not given them permission to. However if it is the depression thing you are worried about, I wouldn’t have thought it should affect your surgery. I had post natal depression a couple of years ago and even though I told them, it was never mentioned again. You will get the odd doctor or GP who is against cosmetic surgery who might try and grab at anything to stop it going ahead, but if that happens, simply change GPs xx

It’s best to let them contact your GP so that they can see your medical records to avoid any complications/delays with your surgery. I gave permission for them to contact my GP even though I’ve never been admitted to hospital before and I don’t really have anything significant in my medical history…just thought it was best to do so as my PC strongly advised that I allow them to. About 2 weeks ago I got a letter from my doctors surgery saying that MYA had requested my records and that I needed to pay £20 for it to be sent over as it’s not covered on the NHS. Haven’t had any problems at all with it. Op is in 3 days so they did it in a reasonable amount of time xx

they wont contact your gp as you have ticked no. i agree with dolly, and its best to let them check it, as they could find something you know nothing about. iv been hearing people on here that have had depression and mental health issues are needing letters and stuff from the GP, to be on the safe side go back and say its ok for them to contact your GP, but get a letter off yours about your past to take in xx
