My MYA Story
Date: 15th June 2011
Surgeon: Mr Gary Traynor
Hospital: Highfield Rochdale
MYA Clinic: Newcastle
Patient Coordinator: Julie Nicholson
Procedure: BA. 525CC and 460CC OVERS. Overnight stay.
MYA CLINIC (Newcastle):
MYA clinic in Newcastle is situated on the Quayside just along from the Law Courts. Although there is no parking at the MYA Clinic it is very close to a multi storey car-park which always has spaces available.
MYA is in Coronation Building and on the second floor. The door is intercom controlled.
The MYA clinic is very clean, comfortable and pleasant. The waiting area has a comfortable leather sofa, plenty of literature to read up on as you wait and pictures on the walls of previous MYA clients.
On my initial visit I was greeted by receptionist Aimee who was very friendly, professional and approachable. She has remained very helpful throughout my experience with MYA and very understanding and patient with my 1001 questions! Aimee keeps you well informed of what’s happening within the office and always conscious of your waiting time – it’s not unusual to be waiting a little over your appointment time but Aimee always kept me informed. She kindly offered me drinks (coffee, tea or water) whilst I waited which was nice.
My patient coordinator throughout my time with MYA was Julie Nicholson.
At my first consultation with Julie she was very knowledgable about the procedure – having gone through a BA before she knew exactly what was to be expected which put me at ease. It was nice to speak to someone who went through the same experience as I was about to embark on. Julie answered all my questions professionally and fully. As to be expected, I forgot to ask a few of my 1001 questions and I was told by Julie I could call, text or email if I ever needed to ask anymore questions. At my second consultation after my meeting with Mr Traynor I tried on the implant sizes with Julie, I put on a Sports Bra and tried each implant sizes that Mr Traynor offered me, eventually deciding on a 410 for my C Cup boob and a 460 for my B Cup boob. We also discussed finance packages and payment methods, which again, Julie was very knowledgeable about.
After trying on implants and returning home I started having a flap about the sizing, wondering if I’d picked the right size or should’ve asked for a bigger size. I called Julie and age invited me back to the clinic to try the implants which was very reassuring.
I paid my balance in full at this point.
My surgeon was Mr Gary Traynor.
I was advised by my PC, Julie, that I could meet with as many surgeons as I liked so I knew which one I wanted to place my trust. My first meeting with Gary Traynor was the only surgeon meeting I had. Mr Traynor was extremely knowledgable, answered all my questions with ease and reassured my worries – there was absolutely no pressure whatsoever to book up with him. Mr Traynor is very straight to the point and he certainly doesn’t beat around the bush. He will always tell you what his professional opinion is, and as he is GMC registered, his opinion mattered to me greatly.
Surgery Day!
Sleeping the night before surgery was just impossible. I woke up dead on 3am and struggled to switch off. I did get more sleep eventually but not much. I set my alarm for 6.30am but I was awake well before then.
I got up at around 7ish to start packing the rest of my stuff and to wake my one year old daughter who was staying with her Grandma overnight whilst my husband and I made the overnight trip.
I arrived at Highfield Hospital at 11.30 after a pretty easy drive – no traffic and the hospital was easy to find.
When giving my details to the receptionist she swiped my debit card for security reasons. We sat in the waiting area for 20 minutes or so before I was shown to my room.
My room was a lovely modest room with a bed, cupboard and ensuite toilet/shower. There is a TV with a few sky channels (I think it might be Freeview) , bedside table and a couple of chairs. The room is very clean and not very clinical so it’s easy to relax.
At 12.15 the nurse came in to do my admission and she was lovely, asked me the usual questions and advised me that Mr Traynor would be in to see me shortly. So I climbed into my sexy gown and paper knickers and waited.
Mr Traynor come in and was very straight to the point about what was going to happen, he reassured me and asked if I had any questions. After this the anaesthetist came in to make sure I was fit, well and ready to go!
Next thing I know two lovely nurses come into my room asking if I’m ready to go – I wasn’t expecting everything to be that quick! I didn’t have a dressing gown with me so they gave my another nightie thing to cover my arse and I had to wear my heels to walk to theatre as I didn’t have slippers! Once in theatre I was left with the anaesthetist and another guy who was attaching ECG’s to me. The anaesthetist inserted the drip thing and started putting loads of different things into it – I was unaware of what he was inserting as he didn’t explain. Then the other guys puts an oxygen mask over my mouth and nose and tells me to take deep breaths. I remember my arm being really really painful and heavy. I asked the anaesthetist if I was dying then BOOM – I was out!
What felt like 10 minutes later (but was actually an hour and 15 minutes) I started coming around, shouting for my daughter and asking where she was was. I was so confused! When I came round a bit more I remember the nurse asking if I was ok etc. I don’t really remember much about this bit but I remember shivering BIG TIME. My teeth were clattering as they wheeled me back to my room. I wasn’t even cold, I didn’t feel cold at least but after 30 minutes I stopped shivering and came round a little bit.
After an hour or so I started feeling normal again and managed to have a peek at my new additions – my first reaction was “OMG, They’re small!” I then fell asleep! After another hour I was ready to have something to eat (Soup, Jacket Potato and Fruit Salad) which was lovely and restored some energy, however 10 minutes after I felt really nauseous so the nurse gave me some anti nausea drugs and I cancelled my evening meal to opt for tea and toast instead.
Eventually I got out of bed to nip to the loo and I had a sneaky peep at my boobs. My reaction this time was “OMG, THEY’RE MASSIVE
” even hubby was like “Wow” I had 525 and 460
And that takes me to know, sitting on my bed typing this up! Still feel a little groggy from the drugs and I’m ready for another snooze.
Sorry it’s so long, I just wanted to give any potential ladies who are even thinking about boob job as much info as possible. At this moment in time I can hand on heart recommend MYA 100%

I was out by 10.30. So uncomfortable in car and need to call into Metro Centre to get a new sports bra as my £4 Asda one is useless and providing no support. Anybody recommend one? One that’s gonna push my boobs together a little as I’ve got a huge gap
Id order a macom hun. If you order now it could get to u by tommorow xx
Hey Petite, just read your story, absolutely loved it. I enjoyed your review on the room
I’m glad theres a tv at least my bf won’t be too bored haha. Just also read what you said about the Asda Bra’s I’ve got 3 of them but I think I’ll order a Macom aswell, we need all the support we can get for our new boobies. I’m getting mine on the 22nd
Hope you’re feeling ok and thank you for such a wonderful, insightful story xxxx
I’m glad you enjoyed my review

I really can’t afford a Macom at the moment
I wish I could. The Asda one is alright now that I’ve managed to adjust my boobs in it. I’m going to have another look tomorrow for a firmer sports bra.

DAY 2:
Feel pretty uncomfortable at the moment. Been walking around a shopping centre today, got a few looks from people but probably because I was hunched over walking like I was about to keel over. Still happy but getting a bit worried about the gap between my boobies, it’s quite big. I’m also starting to wish I asked about bigger! I wasn’t wanting a ridiculous size but I could’ve probably got away with more
I might change my mind once I get these bad boys in a push up bra! X
