Hey girls, I had my BA on the 17th June with Mr. Singh. Am currently day 5 post op. I had 375cc hp overs, to correct my crappy tubular breasts!! I am yet to see if it has worked, as my strapping is still on. Fingers crossed 🙂 I really enjoyed reading all of your stories about the day, so thought I would share mine!

So my admission time to the Fitzroy clinic was 8 am – I turned up on time and was almost instantly shown to my room which was great. I was lucky and had my own room, so I got changed into my gown, stockings and (ugly) knickers straight away, did the pregnancy test and had my admission paperwork filled out by the nurse. The room was fine – my TV didn’t work, but I didn’t wait long so it wasn’t a problem for me.

Mr Singh came and saw me about half 8 – took all the pics and everything, and said I was second on the list. Woo! I had a browse on my laptop, but fell asleep and woke up at half 9 to the theatre team coming to collect me. Everything happened quick which was great.
I was taken to the anaesthetic room, had a cannula put in, and while I was chatting to the anaesthetist assistant, I felt myself going very drowsy – he told me I would fall asleep soon – next thing I know I’m waking up in recovery. I woke up at around 12, which I thought was quite late, but the nurse told me it was because I was sound asleep after waking me up so they wanted to leave me 🙂 I had no pain which was a bonus, just felt a little stiff.

When I arrived back to my room, my mum was luckily there so the next few hours went pretty quick. I was told I would be ready to leave at around 4pm. We did however have to wait until past 6pm for Mr. Singh to come and see me – they said this was necessary before I left. I was a little annoyed, because when he did come, he poked his head in the door, said ‘you can go now’ and walked off. So I didn’t understand why I had to wait for that, particularly because I had someone waiting outside to drive me home. (The drive home was fine – a pillow helped)
During this time, I was given some tea and toast. My mum was disappointed that I wasn’t offered anything more than this during the whole day, particularly because we have paid for private care. (I grabbed some food on my way home).

All in all, the experience was great – nice and quick, smooth and no problems. Post op day 1 and 2 have been so easy! Little bit sore, limited movement, but no pain and no problems. Day 3, 4 and 5 have been a little bit painful, and I am aware of the incisions now – hopefully because they are healing. Bring on day 6 and 7!

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask 🙂 xx

Hi Becky, thank you for sharing your story it really helps to see how things go 🙂 I haven’t got my date yet but that’s because I need one in September and Mr Singh hasn’t confirmed his surgery dates for then yet. How far in advance did you book yours out of interest?
Is there anything you would recommend taking on the day or tips for before/after?
Hope you are recovering well and don’t mind the add 🙂 xx

    Hey Karis 🙂
I was also planning on having mine in September, but somehow I managed to get the time off work earlier!
I booked mine at the beginning of May, so quite last minute! But they suggested I come back in July to book for September.

On the day, I didn’t take much at all! They provide you with a gown and slippers – the only things I used were my laptop, phone charger and clothes to go home in (an oversized button up shirt was very handy).
I would also recommend to sleep as much as your body needs – I have had naps at least once a day, and the only day I haven’t I felt quite a bit of pain and very tired. Naps heal! 🙂 also, a v pillow is a godsend, and then I have a couple of pillows either side of me to keep my arms up which was really comfortable. Other than that, I’ve been lazing about doing nothing!
(Also, if codeine doesn’t work for you, I would definitely request another pain killer. Codeine doesn’t actually work for approx. 30% of people, and paracetamol alone might be a but of a struggle)

Feel free to ask anything else 🙂 xxx
