Hey guys, just thought i would give you a lil info about my pre-op to give the ladies yet to have theres an idea of what to expect 🙂
i was seated in the office with the nurse, i was asked to verify name date of birth and address and then went over my doctor and my implant size…She then handed me a letter to sign which gives them permission to contact my doctors and let them know i am under going surgery soon and to ask if they have any reasons as to if i shouldn’t have the surgery. She then gave me few pieces of paper which detailed the risks and post op and pre op instructions, which she ran through anyway and answered any questions i had along the way, She advised me to not take my contraceptive pill anymore (1 week before my op) no alcohol either. She gave me another piece of paper with the hospital address, and a post code for a car park close by to the hospital because it doesnt offer parking (Fitzroy London) She also gave me there emergency number card and also booked me in for my post op appointment on the 7th april which will be 1 week post op so they can remove my strapping ( strapping will be on for 7 days) She asked me what sports bra i had in mind and we discussed them and she gave me a macom discount code She also advised me that it might be in my best interest to stay close to the Fitzroy so if there was any issues through the night then Dr Singh can deal with the issue promptly (not sure if i will do this as have 2 small children and limited childcare) She then proceeded to tell me they would not be taking bloods as i would only be under general anesthetic for 30 minutes maybe an hour but i did have mrsa swabs taken (fingers crossed they come back clear) she did tell me that if mrsa was present its notthing to worry about as some people just carry it but they send you to the gp to aquire a special wash to use and then they need 3 negative swabs to be able to reschedule surgery but she informed me it was rare anyway. She then asked me to pop onto the scales and to stand against the wall to measure my height, and also took before photos, after these was done she asked me if i had any questions and if im honest she covered everything, i did request to see my patient coordinator who was happy to see me and i tried on the 500cc implant again and showed my mom this time as she hadnt seen them and i was definatly happy with my decision and left feeling fully informed of what was going to be happening 🙂
I hope this helps you guys out as i had no idea what to expect: will definatly keep you guys informed as best as i can 🙂 Good luck ladies xxx
Hi hun can I add you? I’m on the 1st april too but at preston with traynor 🙂 having 425/450cc! Xx
I never thought of doing this about the pre-op but it makes total sense so many girls want to know what happens in it 🙂 x
@ladybabiedoll88 thankyou! I have mine next week and have been wondering what happens 🙂 xx
Thanks hun! I know i’m so nervous! Excited but panicking! Are you all prepared/excited!? Xx
@Jennifer im excited one min and then nervous the next never been so emotionally drained haha, im heading into town tomorrow to buy everything i need the nurse was pretty basic about things just suggesting a v pillow and a decent sports bra, So im going to buy 2 macom bras and a few from asda for when the swelling goes down, going to get some soft tracksuits and top sets from primark the soft velour ones, some fresh flannels to have a clean down my top half and anything else i can think of while im up there as when i try to think about it i cant seem to gather my thoughts on it all haha how about you hun x
Same hun! It is draining 🙁 lol but will all be worth it! Just need to get button up p.j’s & tops etc like you, think ive got everything else, macom & shock absorber, & zip up sports bra from m&s, v pillow, straws, wipes, ice/ziplock bags, & painkillers! Lol, not like me to be prepared but i’m that scared I want everything i can to help! Xx
Yeah its definitely worth it! I’m so excited to get the tape off! And its only like a few minutes of pain and then it goes away but I just wish someone had told me how painful it was going to be so I could prepare myself!
In terms of what to bring to the hospital btw… You’ll need: dry shampoo, deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste, wipes, zip front sports bra, and some zip/button up clothing preferably something soft and comfy as you’ll be feeling a bit battered and something sweet like biscuits to get your blood sugar up. You’ll get tonnes of painkillers, they provide ice and water with straws. The v pillow is for home use as you get an electric bed if you’re staying over. 🙂
