My Story 01/06/10, Highgate with Mr C

Hey everybody!

Thought id type out my story of my BA which i had yesterday for the pre op people who may be nervous so i’ll do it in alot of detail for you because thats what helped me!

I arrived at the hospital at 7:30am at my admission time, you then fill out a little form where you basically put your name and telephone number,address etc then confirm your name and DOB while texting Vicki whoose also on this forum who strangly had the same admission ans date as me and used to live round my area! (HI VICKI HAPPY HEALING BABE GLAD EVERYTHING WENT WELL!). After a while someone then comes and takes you to your room. I got to my room (214) around 8:00am and sat down on the bed, it looked like a hotel with a flatscreen tele, bed, chair and en suite bathroom along with telephone with any numbers you may need. Mr C then came to see me a few minutes later to discuss the final choice of size (i went for 230’s), mark me up and to sign a consent form and let me know i was second on the list. He was very nice and put me at ease! Once he left i changed into the gown and got into bed to watch tele. Around 5 minutes later my nurse came in who was lovely, she took my BP, temp and asked about any medications i was taking along with other general health questions. She then messured me for the sexy stockens and paper knickers! Which was very ammusing! I then changed into these and another 5 minutes later then anethist (sorry my spellings terrible!) came in, he was a lovely guy who put my mind at easy about the GA. I am a complete wimp with needles so asked for the numbing cream which he was great about. He then left and the nurse came back in to do the numbing cream for me and made me feel at ease by making me laugh then also left!

At around 9:10 there was a knock at the door and it was the assistant anethist who asked a few questions and asked me to walk with her to the theatre. Luckily my room was directly opposite the theatre so i had a very short walk in my lovely slippers! I walked into the room and it was honestly like walking into holby city!! i was SO nervous! She asked me to lay down and undone the back on my gown put a towel over the top of my and removed the gown from the top. The anethist then walked in and asked how i was which i replied very nervous!! the assistant and himself put me at easy quickly and spoke to me while he put the canular in (i didnt feel a thing!) soon after he said to me i would be falling asleep, i felt warm in my body like stepping outside in hot weather and a metalic taste in my mouth and i drifted off to sleep! No idea why i was so worried it was a breeze!

Next thing i woke up in recovery with a nice guy at the end of the bed, i felt very confused and disorinatated, he asked if i wanted anything to eat and i replied “id love kfc” how embarssing.. i was then wheeled back to my room where my mum and auntie were waiting.

I was awake in my room around 10:15 exactly an hour after going down and my nurse came in every half hour to check my blood pressure which at first was very low and to ask if i was in any pain. I only really felt discomfort and the morphine felt amazing haha. At first you feel very tired and you doze off quite a few times, after this they bring you in some toast which was so quick! & around 1:00pm i was asked if i would like some lunch which i then spoke to the chef and ordered (how cool!) this also came very quickly!! I had orange juice for starters, pasta for main and ice cream for dessert, the ice cream made my journey it was georgous!!

The nurse then came in and was shocked that i had eaten so much then said she would like me to attempt to walk, my advice is not to expect to much of yourself because the first time i tried it was very difficult and def needed help, i had unders so it was more painful. The second time was much more easier! Another nurse came in afterwards and asked about medication, now im a whimp and struggle with tablets.. so my antibiotics and pain killers are in liquid form and my muscle relaxers can be broken which was really nice of them! so thank you!

Mr C then came in around 2:30ish to check how i was and how i was getting on, he checked the wound and said everything went well and that i could leave when the nurses are happy, i couldnt thnk him enough! Would strongly recommend him hes amazing! My dad then arrived to pick me up around 3 and bought my fave pink roses which was lovely of him! and my nurse came in around 3:30 and said she was happy to discharge me if i feel up to it.

Around 3:45 i attempted to get changed which at first is very difficult and you’ll def need some help! My nurse then came in with a bag of medication and my discharge note to give to reception to let them know i was no longer here. My nurse was amazing and ever so nice! I got a hug and kiss goodbye and was honestly gutted to be leaving! The staff are very nice and theres not a bad word that can be said about them, their very quick and genuinly kind and will do anything to help you. I got discharged around 4:00 and shuffled (my version of walked) with a little help to the car!

I am now at home and couldnt recommened highgate staff, mya and Mr C enough!! Good luck to everyone and if you have any questions i’ll be happy to help !! xx

congrats hun happy healing you must be really pleased!

We sound quite similar ha! im sooo scared of needles and also struggle with tablets that are too big! So really happy you can have the numbing cream and can get the antibiotics and pain killers in liquid form! have been worrying about that!! xxxx

Thanks layla hunni, haha yeah we do!! yeah its so much easier then tablets.. the antibiotics is in orange flavour which is quite nice.. the pain killers fizzes into water which tastes quite satly so have it with food but its much better then tablets as they were huuuge! so dont worry When you having yours m lovely? xx

Wel still waiting for my second consultation which will be with mr falladar then after that hoping to book for beginning of august! Mine will be at highgate aswel and will be going as a day case! Hopefully will get an early time like you! Thats such good news about the pills though has really put my mind at rest cos iv been worrying about if ill be able to take them! Cant wait now! Still have to sort out sizes and stuff though i know exactly what i want so will have to see what he says i can have! What size were you to start? Are you happy with the size so far? xx

Awh thats good! you got the date of your consultation with Mr Falladar? If your a day case like mine then hopefully you should do, like vary from 7:30 till 10:30 i think then from then its normally overnight stays. Thats what i gathered from when i was there! Yeah the tablets was great news! Glad its stopped you worrying, i was worrying too, just speak to the nurse when she comes into your room and they will sort it out for you as they make a note of it on your notes! The sizes is the difficult part as you dont wanna be too small or too big! Def listen to the surgeon for his advice, i was offered 230s or 260s from a 32a but im very very tiny, at the mo im wearing a 32D sports bra but it may go to a 32C i ended up having the 230’s as Mr C recommended def the right option as the 260s would of been too big! So def happy with the size so far! What size are you at the mo? xx

Wel im either a 32c/d depending on were i get measured (def dont look like a D!) want to be a dd/e but realy want the ba for the shape they will be after aswel sooo sick of push up bras!! Im 5’3 but about 8’7 an a size 8/10 so i think dd/e will b ok for me! My friend had 380 unders with mr falladar and was similar to me to start and hers look perfect for me! Ill def listen to what the surgeon says though as u sed, cos rely dont wana look silly after an regret it! Will have to let us know what size u are wen they settle! Hw have the first couple days been? xx

Layla yeah that sounds like it will suit you! Hope all goes well at the consultation you’ll have to let us know how it goes, if your going for natural def listen to the surgeon as they give great advice! Will def let you know what size i end up, i think itl possibly be a C as their quite swollen at the mo so thats why the D sports bra is comfy and fitting well haha. Yesterday i was fine but last night i didnt get hardly any sleep but thats because of my muscle relaxer tablets as they make you feel quite sick (you have them tablets if you have unders) but i feel quite good today! xx
