MY STORY….
MY Stats – size 8-10, Age 27, height 4.11, weight 10 st – Boob size 36 A – very small and tubular shape
I have had 350 cc Overs (CUIs) with Helena yesterday.
I actually managed to sleep monday night, home how! I woke up at 5.25 am so I could have a sip of water and brush my teeth before my admission time at 7.30 am. Made the most of my last proper shower in a while. Didn’t put any deodrant, make up, hair products etc etc on as requested – looks dreadful going into the hospital let alone coming out! haha
I arrived at Highfield at 7.25 am, was greeted at reception and ased to fill out a short form and take a seat.
At 7.30 a guy called my name and showed me to my room, he was lovely he showed me everything in the room and how everything worked.. tv, phone ect ect.
At 8.00 my surgeon came in to see me and draw on me, she also took pictures for her own records. She said I could put my gown on after she left, luckily no paper knickers or sexy stockings for me!
8.15 the nurse came in to take my blood pressure, ask me the health questions etc. It was her first full admission so took a bit longer than usual but she was very nice about it.
8.30 aneistists came to talk to me, he talked very fast and I din’t take much of it in but he was lovely and I had faith he knew what he was doing!
9am and the nurse came to collect me to walk me down to theater, I wasn’t too nervous – just couldn’t believe the day had arrived!!
I went into a room before the theater room, found out I’d put my gown on the wrong way (D’oh). So after a little rearrangment the aneistist fitted the canula, and put some drugs in (anti sickness, antibiotics and sedative), this hurt a little! The sedative made me feel a little dizzy and nauseous but apparantly this is normal. They wheeled me into theatre and I don’t remember much after the mask went on!
Next thing i remember was waking up int he recovery room. I was talking gibberish. I was really shivering which I think made things more painful!
I was wheeled back to my room. I told this it wasn’t my room, but they said it was just because they’d moved bed around to make it easy to get me on it! lol I was really shivering still so they wacked up the heating and covered me in blankets and my dressing gowns. My sats were low so I was on oxygen for a while. I also had drains which I wasn’t expecting
. The nurses made sure I was fine before ordering my lunch.
About half hour after surgery the chicken sandwhich and diet coke I ordered arrived. The sandwhich was OK but i wasnt too hungry and eating it just in the hope it would make me feel better really.
I was on half hour obs untill my blood pressure stabilised as it was a bit all over the place (its generally quite low anyway).
Helena came to check on me about 2pm and said I could have the drains out about 6 pm ready to go home at 7 pm. Was really ready to get rid of them and the canula by then!! One of the drains was really painful when it was removed, but weirdly I didn’t feel anything with the other, which was apparantly deeper! Weird.
They said I should eat something after so I got some biscuits, with a diet cola. The nurses laughed at me for ordering a biscuit and diet cola haha.
All the staff at the highfield Rochdale were all fantastic… so a big thank you. The only thing I’m slightly concerned about is I know I should recieve a card with details of the implants I have, but that wasn’t in my discharge pack. One of the nurses is going to check if they were left in theatre today and call me. I know what implants I have but would be good for future reference!
I got codeine, antibiotics, paractemol and dipla-something (a strong anti inflammotory).
Managed to get about 5 hrs sleep last night thanks to my V-pillow. Just taking it easy today, definatley not the most comfortable I could be but hopefully will be worth it!
Girls if you want to add me i will be uploading some pictures to follow the changes as i recovery, these are personal pictures so please just send me a message so i know who you are, and possibly why you want to see them as I’m a bit nosey like that!
