Hi girls
I have been waiting so long for this day to come were I can be writing my own experiences on here, so here it finally is:
I arrived @ Highgate hospital for my admittion at 11am on 15th oct. I was shown to my room by a lovely man, (Room 305)
At approx 11:30 the anesthetist came into to see me, he explained about everything that was involved in a GA – I’m glad he took the time to go through everything with me as this was the bit I was most scared about.
At 12:00pm I saw Mr Singh (Lovely man), He confirmed size (300) & positioning (overs) again with me, then he drew on me and took his photographs. & said he would see me in 1 – 2 hours.
Finally the nurse came to see me (slightly in the wrong order as she had misplaced my notes) she asked me to change into my gown, paper pants & stockings.
The next hour seemed to fly by, it was now 1:30pm & the nurse came to fetch me for my op. at this point I became really nervous & thought last chance to back out. I wanted the final result so knew I had to go through with this part, so I left my room with the nurse, we took the lift down to theatre, when we arrived at theatre the nurse asked me to get on the bed. the anesthetist started talking to me about my job as he wiped my hand with a surgical wipe, popped in the canula (the bit I was not looking forward to) but it was fine I did not feel a thing, he then started putting in the medication, the 1st one I some how managed to taste & it was discusting, then in went the GA, last thing I remember is feeling as though I was drunk & the room seemed to be spining.
Next thing I know it was 2:45 & I woke up in recovery. When I came round I felt fine just abit teary. The lady in the recovery room handed me a tissue & said were ready to go, then I got wheeled back to my room were my partner was waiting for me.
At 5pm Mr Singh came into see me to let me know how the surgery went, he said unfortunately in theatre there had been complications, nothing serious, but things didn’t go as planned & instead of having the implant placed OVER the muscle he’d had to put it UNDER due to thinness of breast tissue.
I was given my 3 course meal and pain relief which by this time I did need.
I had a great nights sleep & woke @ 7am feeling fine, also my chest was feeling less tight which I was pleased about. I didn’t really have any pain & don’t really have that much swelling.
I had pain relief @ 11.30pm before bed & haven’t needed anymore until 12.30pm today. I haven’t really had alot of pain & had been told unders are more painful, so if thats the case I think overs would be a walk in the park.
I was discharged by the nurse @ 10am who advised I put my sports bra on & to leave my dressings in place for 7 days. But had a slight problem when it came to putting my sports bra on, it did not fit!! I had brought the expensive Maccom bra recommended by Mya but it was too tight, so had to travel home without one on, making the journey home horrible & painful, every bump in the road hurt & i wanted to cry, when we got back home we called in at our local Asda, where I tried on sports bras & managed to find one that fit comfortably, ended up buying a 36C post surgery bra. Would highly recommend these bras, they are fantastic & very comfortable.
At the moment my boobies are slightly swollen & look quiet pointy but this is normal & I can not wait until they start to settle.
Not sure what size I will end up, started off 32A & currently wearing 36C sports bra as the 34 band was too tight.
