Sorry it has taken me a few days to get round to writing this book..
5ft 8′, 8.5 stone, asymmetrical 32B/C > 300cc and 360cc Nagor Impleo overs!
On Friday my boyfriend and I arrived at the Glasgow Nuffield hospital about half an hour early for my 1pm admission time and we were shown to my room straight away! I got unpacked and settled in before the nurse came in and explained all the plans to me and also checked over all of my details and health information and took my blood pressure again. She said that I should be going down to theatre at around 3:30pm but the Anaesthetist and Ben Chew would come in to see me before hand, which they did. The Anaesthetist was a lovely lady who went through how she would be putting me to sleep and what to expect after I wake up in the recovery room. Ben came in at 2:45pm and drew all over me haha this man is very particular about his measurements (one of the reasons I chose him as my surgeon) so by the time he was done my chest looked like an AA road map!
By the time we had a chat and he left it was 3:15pm already so I quickly got my paper panties, robe and surgical socks on and jumped onto my bed right in time for the theatre nurses coming in to get me- no time to get nervous! Once down in theatre they popped the needle in my hand which, even though i am terrified of needles, only felt like a little scratch and soon after came a very relaxed then very drunk feeling. The last thing I remember is saying “I’m sorry if I start talking rubbish to you” and the next thing I know, I’m in the recovery room TALKING RUBBISH to the poor man next to me haha!
The Anaesthetist and nurse were both there by my side and said everything went well, I asked if I could go back to my room where my boyfriend was patiently waiting. My surgery had only taken an hour but by the time I woke up it was 5:30pm so they took me up and my mum was there waiting too. I was still a bit sleepy and feeling a bit sick yet hungry at the same time so I ordered some chicken goujons and salad but couldn’t finish them. The anaesthetist and Ben were back in again to check on me and there were three nurses who were popping in every hour or so. I went to sleep at around 11pm, just tired but in no pain at all and woke at 9am the following morning to a full English breakfast! Ben came in AGAIN to see how I was doing before I got picked up by my mum at 11:30am.
Since coming home on Saturday I have had no pain, a little tightness in the skin above my breast bone and my scars are starting to itch a bit. I had a shower on Sunday (waterproof dressings so i’m allowed) and have been trying to take it easy but its hard when I feel totally normal haha my mum keeps grabbing things off me when I’m sweeping the floor or filling the kettle up lol. The only thing I can say that isn’t ideal is trying to sleep at a 45 degree angle, i keep sliding down and waking up from sleep to climb back on to my mountain of pillows. Does anyone know how long it is until you can sleep flat on your back? :S
I honestly cannot fault the service I have received the whole way from consultation stage until now from the Glasgow Nuffield. Ben Chew has been absolutely fantastic and the whole experience has gone above and beyond any expectations I have had. If you are unhappy with your body and have the power to change it, do it. It is the best thing I’ve ever done. After years of stuffing my bra, hiding from my boyfriend and having no confidence in myself, I finally feel happy!
And thanks to all you lovely girls on here too who have helped me

Hi hun,
Thanks for sharing your wonderful story. I had my BA with Ben Chew at the Glasgow Nuffield 2 years ago and had such a great experience too. I had to laugh when you mentioned his detailed markings and measurements – he was just the same 2 years back! 😆 Happy healing!!
Best wishes,
