just thought i would give you guys an insight into my day at highgate,
arrived roughly around 10am for my admission however there was no space to park, waited for like 40 minutes in the end my partner had to park around the corner at a pay and display area and then move the car after an hour.
went into my room and waited for the nurse to do my blood pressure and weigh me. got dressed into my sexy paper knickers and gown!! anesthetist came in to ask about allergies etc. waited for my surgeon to come see me which wasn’t until half 1. at 2 o’clock the nurse came to take me to theatre felt like the longest walk in my life. at this point i just wanted it over with but was so so scared.
got onto the bed and was told i was getting some medicine fist through my arm and then the anesthetist said he was going to put me to sleep. next thing i knew my left arm felt tingly and then i felt myself nodding off.
woke up to a lovely nurse calling my name to wake me up. she explained to me that my surgery took roughly an hour and I was in the recovery room for half hour. she kindly put some vaseline on my lips and said my throat would be dry. i was wheeled into my room on the bed straight after. didn’t feel any pain on my chest just tightness really. tried to move my arms to scratch my back but the nurse kindly scratched it.
a drip was put into my arm for fluids, was told by a nurse to drink plenty of water to flush out the general anestetic, i suddenly felt really cold and started shaking like i was having a fit. my partner got scared and a nurse was called in, she said it was normal and asked if i was pain or felt sick. as i felt really drowsy she gave me an injection in my bum to help.
was given some tea and toast. couldn’t chew the toast but the tea was the best thing! kept drifting in and out of sleep after that. had my meal chose the carrot soup, steak and potatoes and chocolate cake. the steak was lovely and salty which helped me get my tastebuds back in my mouth. Didn’t even touch the cake or soup.
left about half 8 because i was missing my bed and bf was getting a bit restless and tired! poor him. instantly felt sick and threw up outside the hospital luckily he grabbed some of the paper bowls to take home with us in the car. was glad to breathe in plenty of fresh air even though it was freezing and raining.
TODAY
found it really awkward sleeping last night. kept waking up every two hours to go to the loo and felt really hot and thirsty. my back is in so much pain even though i am sleeping upright with 5 pillows and a v neck pillow. to be honest the back hurts more then the breasts!!
still feel really drowsy every now and again and sluggish. finding it difficult to turn on lights and flush the toilet. keep getting hot flushes and a sickly taste in my mouth. hope this feeling goes soon!!!
breast looks big and swollen with bruises appearing by the hour. hope i don’t get any stretch marks!!!

had the same almost exact experience as you apart from i had some morphine. I feel ok today – breasts are sore and making noises lol and swollen
