Hi Girls, sorry, this is a little overdue… I had my surgery on Saturday 25th April. My admission time was 9am and I arrived at Fitzroy a few minutes before. It’s only 30 min drive from my house and I travelled by taxi as my husband had to stay at home and look after our children. I was very quickly shown to my room, which I was sharing with another girl. She was first of Dr Fiumara’s patients on that day (she only had me and her), and she was already in the operating theatre when I arrived. I was given my gown, paper pants and surgical stockings to change into. The nurse checked my blood pressure, which was a bit high because of my anxiety and asked me for an urine sample to check for pregnancy. Around 10am anaesthesiologist arrived and talked me through the procedure. Dr Fiumara arrived shortly afterwards, around 10.30, took some photographs and discussed the implants with me. During the pre op consultation a few weeks earlier we agreed on 250, maybe 275cc moderate plus or high profile, but on the day of surgery she said that she had also ordered 300cc and asked if I would be happy with a bigger implant if she finds that they fit better. I said I trusted her opinion and asked her to decide during the surgery, although we agreed that 250cc would be probably too small. I was then taken to the theatre, got a cannula in my hand and something to relax me, which I started feeling in my legs straight away, this lovely warm feeling and then I fell asleep. I woke up hearing noises and people talking to me although I couldn’t open my eyes. My first question was if everything went ok and what implants I got and Dr Fiumara said 300cc which was a surprise! I was told to keep my arms by my side and wear the breast band for 4 weeks. Dr Fiumara only had two surgeries on that day and I was her second one so I didn’t see her afterwards. Apparently, she came to see me but I think I was still half asleep! I was then taken back to my room and I think it was around 2pm. I had a lot of pain and was given pain killers and muscle relaxants. I kept drifting back to sleep which was quite nice and luckily didn’t experience any sickness. I got some toast with jam and a cup of tea, which tasted so delicious. I was on my own in the hospital so struggled a little bit with things like reaching for my phone, pouring myself some water from the jug, getting the toilet paper, but the nurses were brilliant! I stayed overnight, but didn’t use any of the things that I packed. I was too tired and too sore to get changed in my pyjamas, didn’t need the bathrobe as I stayed in my surgical gown, and the slippers were provided by the hospital. To be honest I didn’t even open my suitcase – too much pain! I just asked the nurse to pass me my ipad from the side pocket! Didn’t even brush my teeth! I know – awful! I think it’s much easier if you’ve got someone to help. I couldn’t sleep much because of the pain. Really enjoyed breakfast and was collected by my husband at around 10.30 in the morning. I’m now 10 days post op and recovering well although still get quite a lot of pain at times. I was very anxious about having breast augmentation but have no regrets whatsoever now and in a strange way I actually enjoyed the experience and the fact that I was looked after like a princess by my husband over the last 10 days. Xx

Glad to hear it all went well. Hoping my surgeon surprises me with the option of bigger! Well done for going by yourself. My husband is coming with me as my girls wil be in nursery but of the op isn’t done by 4pm he will have to leave me there and am a little unsure about that.

How old are your children? I’m a little nervous about the recovery/not lifting aspect! X

My kids are 11 and 8, so no lifting! Also my daughter was on her first school trip Mon-Fri after the surgery, which really helped. My husband took a week off to look after me. Xx

Ahh mine are much younger- my youngest has just turned one and the eldest is 3.

So will def need to pick up the baby to lift her in/out of cot/high hair/car seat. My husband is having the first week off so will do it all then but after then I’ll have to start doing it. Will just have to be strict with my 3yr old.
