I’ve finally got round to this almost a week after my op! Thought i’d share as i loved reading everyone elses stories before it woz my turn!…
So me and two of my mates drove to Highgate from Bristol at 6am last tues. We were supposed to arrive at 9am but were abit late because of traffic!
We ended up waiting nearly an hour in reception, I think i prob lost a slot bcoz i was about 15mins late. I was getting v nervous now, filled out my forms all wrong as a result! It didnt help my nerves that there was a woman sitting opposite waiting to leave who was obviously in so much pain she woz sat crying!
Anyway, got into the room and was seen quickly by the nurse, Dr C and anaethetist (i cant spell either!). I had a last minute panic about size (300cc or 340cc), decided on the 340cc. Then it was time to walk down to theatre(not without the sexy gown, paper pants and stockings ofcorse!). I have to admit now i was a complete wuss and sobbing like a baby. I just kept picturing my daughter (shes 7) and the fact she didnt know what i was about to do! Anyway, led down on the table and begged the anaethetist not to let me die! (oh god wot a wimp!).
Next thing i know i woke up in recovery with a heater blasting up the bed which woz lovely. My body had gone into shock a little bit and my whole body was shaking which was making me tense which woz a little bit painful but apart from that i was ok. That passed within half an hour. The op only took 40mins so my friends weren’t in the room when i got back as the nurse had told them id be atleast an hour!
The day is a bit of a blur now but i remember one of my mates going to sleep on the floor with my v-pillow and dressing gown and my other mate going to sleep on the two chairs! The nurse came in and started laughing when she saw the three of us asleep!
So thats it really. It wasn’t half as bad as I thought and its definately not an un-bearable pain, more like someone really fat was sat on my chest!
I’m 7 days post op and went back to work yesterday and drove my car sunday (just to check i could!). I’m in no pain at all and havent taken any pain killers since friday. The only problem i had was when my daughter came home ill on wednesday (the day i got out of hosp) and i couldnt look after her properly! we live alone and she has a bunk bed and i couldnt even reach up to her when she was being sick! atleast that took the attention off me though and when i told her mummy had accidently bumped her boobies so they were swolen and she mustn’t touch them, she seemed to accept it! haha
