Just thought it might be useful for other girls to hear my story and then to be able to ask any questions they might want to. So..before I had my operation I was an empty 32a (before I had my little girl I was 32c and I went up to a DD following pregnancy and then breastfeeding) so I wanted to have the op to put me back to my old size by filling me out, and to make me feel more womanly and give me back some confidence.

Following advice from Dr. Adamo I had overs & 310cc cohesive gel implants as according to Dr.Adamo these are slightly firmer and would reduce the possibility of rippling- which was important because I did not have that much exisiting breast tissue and the implant would be sitting above the muscle.

Dr. Adamo said the cohesive gel implants are slightly fimer than the other cui implants and according to research I did they can reduce the chances of CC as the body apparently responds better to the firmer nature of the implant (however, only time will tell whether this is actually true!!!). I only opted for 310cc because I wanted to have a very natural look, to the point where I did/do not want anyone to notice and I hope I will look the same as before in terms of size and projection just without needing a heavily padded/air filled/gel filled push up bra to get that look. Also Dr. Adamo took my chest measurements and said that given the width of the implants anything larger than a 310cc would not look very good on me. (If at all helpful my other stats are 5″6, size 6/8, weigh approx. 8 stone pre-op)

I had my operation at Highgate, as a day case on 23rd March so currently less than 2 weeks post-op. I took the painkillers for 2 days but found the discomfort of the bloating too much and the relied on arnica tablets to help relieve any pain or tweaks. At the moment, apart from the odd twinge things, and sometimes “hot” feeling breasts things seem to be healing nicely.Occasionally when I lean forward I have a light burning sensation in one breast which seems to be when the implant perhaps touches a nerve? The nurse reassured me this is normal and as it only happens occasionally I wasn’t worried. I have regained a lot of the numbness that I initially had in my breast post-op, but my nipples are still extremely over sensitive and some of the bottom half of my breasts is still slightly numb in terms of sensation.

Dr. Adamo told me not to wear a bra so I have just been wearing tight fitting cami tops as they are extremely comfortable and maybe because I have smaller implants they don’t feel too heavy.

I had my strips removed last week but have opted to put large adhesive dressings over the incisions/scars to protect them, & stop infection getting in. When the nurse removed the strips there was a small amount of bleeding that I noticed and in some areas the scar looked a little raw so I thought that until they appeared to be completely healed I would just put the dressing on. I also purchased some hibiscrub from boots so that when I did clean the incisions it would be with something sterile that would remove bacteria and hopefully stop any potential infection. I think you can shower with it too. Hopefully the incisions will continue to heal nicely, although I have noticed they are slightly lumpy in areas but fingers crossed that goes down.

I have also purchased some dermatrix gel sheets and gel in anticipation of when Dr. Adamo hopefully gives me the all clear at 6 weeks.

If you have any questions let me know-when my breasts are more settled I will put up some photos.

    xx

I’m hoping to be a full c, small d at the end but with all the swelling now i’m probably a full D. Wouldn’t mind if they stayed this big though to be honest as it’s still very much in proportion to my figure.

Will let you know when I put pictures up x

    Hi Rose,

Thanks for posting your story, always great to hear full details. I’m similar stats to you-5’7, 8 stone and slender up top (6-8)and have been recommended 300 overs (and 340 on one side ’cause I’m asymmetric!) but I am so so nervous about this because I had a consultation before and we were talking more around the 250 mark-or smaller!-and unders. I’ve heard so much bad press about overs and I’m also scared they’ll be too big so if I could see your pics that would be really helpful! Do they feel ok? Can you see the edges? I just want a nice shape, not really that fussed about being a great deal bigger so for them to look really unnatural would just be so unworth it!

    Thanks! Elle x

Hi Hun, thanks for posting ur story, im almost the same stats as u, 5ft5, 8 stone and 32b, and i want to be a full c cup – i saw dr adamo on thursday and e recommended me 310cc overs – which i agreed on the size – but am still unsure about the whole overs or unders issue! he said i have enough breast tissue for overs and would get a bettrshape, so am thinking to just go with what he says as hes the expert…. if i could see any pics that would be much appreciated!

i agree with u elle – i would much rather a nice full shape rather than go really big and look un-natural xxx

xellex & katlouise01 if you both friend request me I will let you know when I put the pictures up and you can view them then. I am just going to wait until they settle a little more, and the scars are better healed. Will keep you posted.

xellex- I am assuming you have been offered the normal cui implants if you have been offered the 300 or 340 sizes. I had the cohesive gel implants which were 310cc and apparently slighter firmer than the normal implants. As I am only 2 weeks post op they are softening every day, but currently feel like quite firm natural breasts. I am hoping that they will soften more over the next few months though and a lot of the girls on the forum have said it takes a while for that to happen. I can’t see the edges, and can’t really feel the edges of the implant either, obviously if you squeeze quite hard you can though. I think they are quite a good shape-and that was my main priority- Dr. Adamo said that the cohesive gel ones, because they are slighter firmer, will apparently keep their shape for longer and the breast would take on more of the shape of the implant rather than the shape I had prior- because my breasts had been damaged/altered by breast feeding. I really wanted them to look natural, and at the moment I do think that they do-especially in clothes. I just need them to drop a little more, which will come in time.

I wouldn’t say I have had anything negative to say about having overs, but I would go with what your surgeon best recommends having seen your body/breasts. I would say that overs do mean you have a speedier recovery time, and for what I wanted- which was to fill out my breasts to the size they were before, and to improve the shape, and the feeling of firmness etc that overs were best suited for me. I would really recommend them so i think it’s just a personal decision on what you would like best. I’ll let you see the photos soon to help you decide.

Katlouise01- I suppose it would be entirely up to you, with unders I know that you loose a certain percentage of the size because it is partially under the muscle and that you had less chance of getting cc or being able to feel the implant. But I didn’t have much breast tissue to start with and I can’t really feel the edge of my implant unless I really squeeze and poke around-which I don’t think would happen in many normal situations.

Shape and looking natural were the most important things for me, and Dr. Adamo advised overs for me to achieve that look. But I would say that he would be the only person best advised to tell you for your body what would work best to achieve that look. But again I’ll let you see in a few weeks what mine look like and it might help you to see whether you would/wouldn’t want to achieve the same sort of look.

Thanks Rose that’s really helpful. I wasn’t spoken to about the cohesive gel ones. That’s great if you can’t feel them unless you feel quite hard-at the moment mine feel pretty horrible if I decide to grab them hard! (empty :( ). I am pretty happy to trust the surgeon’s professional opinion, especially as she really took the time to examine me and listen to what I wanted and she said she’ll look at what looks best on the day and will change the implant if they don’t look right. Just wanted to hear from someone having overs that’s a similar size as they don’t seem common so you’ve reassured me. Looking forward to seeing pics. Happy healing! I hope they settle quickly for you xxx
