    Hiya,

Thought I’d share my story with you all.

My admission time was 1pm and my Mum & Dad came with me (Dad hid in the car most of the time! hehe). I was shown to my room by the receptionist. Room was lovely and clean, nice bathroom and freeview telly, phone to order tea and coffee whenever you want and a call button for the nurse if you need her.

So I settled into my room, unpacked and my lovely nurse (June) came into see me. She went over some paperwork with me (allergies, medication etc). Then she gave me my gown, stockings and sexy PAPER knickers to change into, I looked BRILLIANT! :P

Then the anaesthetist came into see me at around 3pm to introduce herself and go over allergies, medication etc again. She told me I would be going into theatre around 5:30 and Mr Adamo would come into see me soon.

Sure enough he popped in around 4pm to take pre-op photos and draw on me. By this point I wasn’t nervous at all, just excited! He’s such a smiley, lovely man, I felt totally reassured! Then around 5:30 the nurse came in and said they were ready for me. Wear your slippers down to theatre and the nurse brings them back to your room for you.

So I climbed onto the theatre bed and the anaesthetist and nurse were chatting to me and wiring me up to BP monitors, put a lovely comfy blanket over me etc. The nurse said “So are you getting ready for summer with your new boobies! Think of all the new bikinis and clothes you can buy!” Thats when it really hit home and I was SO happy that I was having the op done! Next thing I know the anaesthetic must have kicked in as I felt a lovely sleepy whoosh come over me and next thing I know I was waking up to lots of friendly faces in the theatre who said I’d done really well and how was I feeling~? (I felt great!). Then the man who was wheeling me back to my room said ‘have you seen your new boobies yet?’ and I looked down, lifted my gown and was so happy to with them!!

Just to warn any pre-op ladies you will probably wake up really shaky after the op but it’s just the anaesthetic, it’s perfectly normal. Just sip some water and it will stop in a couple of minutes. Nurse brought me some tea and toast in and I felt much less dopey. I woke up with no pain, just a tight feeling across my chest but I’m guessing it’s just the swelling. I didn’t have any bandages just a couple of very small dressings where the wounds were so I could see them straight away!

Then my lovely boyfriend came in, I hadn’t seen my new boobs properly yet but guessed by the look on his face he was pretty chuffed with the new additions! The nurse asked me if I wanted my dinner yet so I had the pasta which was laaavly! My boyfriend stayed with me until about 10 when I was ready to settle down to sleep for the night. The nurse popped in & out every 1/2 hour until then checking my BP, then tucked me in for the night :)

I woke up around 7 the next morning by the nurse with some painkillers for me. Then a lovely man brought my breakfast in (Scrambled egg on toast & coffee was amazing!). I had a quick shower and got myself dressed, makeup on etc. Then Mr Adamo came in to see me to check how I was and said they looked very good and that I could go when I was ready.

Popped to the pharmacy to get my antibiotics and painkillers then had a nice slow drive home! :) I could not recommend Mr Adamo and Highgate Hospital enough the staff are all so brilliant, from the nurses to the catering staff!

Sorry for the essay, I know it was really helpful for me reading other people’s stories, from helping me decide on surgery in the first instance to reassurance pre-op.

Hope all the other girls in the same day at Highgate are healing well and happy with their new boobs!!!

Congrats for your new breasts jadem. You had an amazing experience, hope mine goes as well as yours.

One question… You said you took a shower in the morning and you didn’t have any bandage. So far I’ve only heard people saying that you can only take a shower one week after the op and that you’re either bandaged or have a to wear a sports bra.

    Thanks everyone :)

    Hi Tania,

I only have a small dressing over each incision. The dressings are pretty waterproof so he said I can have a shower but just be careful not to soak the dressings :) Every surgeon is different, Mr Adamo generally says that you don’t need a bra and I didn’t have any bandages which is lovely cuz the swelling of the boobs alone is making my chest feel tight enough. Totally depends on your surgeon him I’d just say trust their judgement :) hope this helps

:) Aw ddgirl, that’s awful, it must take a while to get your trust back up to going into a hospital then! I hate hospitals, but you just gotta remember this is a private hospital, it’s an entirely different standard of healthcare to the NHS and you’ll have people catering to your every need! Hope everything goes well for your op on 27th, I know it will! Mr Singh is meant to be amazing you’ll be in very very safe hands so you can just chill out and enjoy the experience! :) x x x
