So after a very entertaining night in our hotel room with water coming through the ceiling, we managed to get some sleep and arrived at Highgate at 9:05. Admission wasn’t until 9:30 but the receptionist said it was fine and my room was ready for me anyway. I was not nervous in the slightest which was very weird after being so nervous the night before.
Shortly after getting settled in a nice spacious and light room (perfect for my 7 month old in his walker!) a nurse comes in to take my height, weight etc and fill out some forms. The next thing I am getting changed into sexy stockings, paper undies and my gown.
Then Mr Kazzazi comes in and asks me if I have decided between 410s and 460s to which I ask some last minute questions like “which do you think would give me the best shape?” Mr K then measured me again, said maybe i’d lost weight since my consultation and so he thought the 460s would now be too big and would cause rippling etc so the 410s it was. I was pretty pleased that he had made the decision for me in the end! He also said I would be first down as I was a daycase and that somebody would be in to collect me in 10-15 minutes time (it was all going so fast!)
So at approximately 10:15, a lady comes to collect me, I kiss hubby and start the walk down to theatre (still feeling fine!). I climb onto the bed and the nurse starts talking to me and taking my mind off things while she puts the canula in (doesn’t hurt). Then I remember 2 of them waving at me and saying “see you later” very bizarre when you don’t feel like anything is happening!
Next thing I wake up, see a guy I haven’t seen before, put my thumb up and say “alright dude” – so embarrassing! Then they wheel me back into my room. I was in quite a bit of pain so they gave me a shot of Tramadol and a anti sickness jab into my bum! It eased the pain and all I remember was various people coming in and out for most of the day but I just kept falling asleep all the time! I could not stomach food and so all I managed to eat the whole day was 1 piece of toast and some green and blacks ice cream!!
Mr Kazzazi came in and said all had gone well which was nice to hear. The nurse brought me some more Tramadol before taking my drains out (doesn’t hurt but not a very nice feeling being tugged at from inside!). Shortly after I get dressed (about 20:30 by this point!) and walk outside to get some fresh air, unfortunately standing up and walking made me dizzy and really sick twice so had to go back in for an anti sickness jab and wait another half an hour for that to kick in before I could leave! At this point I was seriously wondering why i’d booked a daycase as I felt so rough but eventually made it back to the hotel room at about 10pm!
I have to say a big big thank you to my wonderful husband who had the task of looking after me and our 7 month old all day stuck at a hospital, he did a grand job!
I can honestly say the op was a breeze but I don’t think the GA or tablets agreed with me very much. I’m not in too much pain today so hoping it stays that way. For all pre op girls, please don’t worry as it is a great experience.
