So my big day was yesterday, my admission time was 8am. We live 5 hours from London so drive up Monday night for op on tues. Hotel about half hour from highgate hospital so booked taxi Monday night for 7am tues morning.
Didnt sleep much as you can imagine! Showered at 6am and stayed in for ages as I knew it was the last one I’d be having for a while! Glad I did now cos I’m already feeling bit grubby and only 1 day post op!
Taxi arrived just before 7 and took me to general hospital in highgate (didn’t know there was more than 1!) – I looked at it and said ” I don’t think it looked like this in the picture”! Luckily we were only a couple if minutes away from proper hospital and found it with plenty if time to spare – I arrived in reception just after 7:30.
After about 15 mins was shown to my (lovely) room, nurse came in an did bp temp stats etc then gave me my stunning outfit to change into. Next to come in was mr chantrasak, confirmed size and drew on me an said I was 4th on list. Snoozed on and off for next 2 hours or so, wasn’t nervous at all for some reason, then at 11.30 a lady came in and said “I’m here to take you to theatre”! So quick I didn’t have time to think about it which was nice!
I walked in to theatre and must admit that that’s when it became real and I got a bit nervous but within 5mins I was out for thecount! Needle into arm was just little scratch, body started to tingle and feel odd, tasted something a but strange then I was in recovery! Really strange experience – I was trying to explain to hubby – when you’ve been asleep you know time has passed but with anesthetic you don’t – it’s odd!
Back in my room I was shaking quite a lot and in and out if sleep for next hour or so, no pain at all. Went for wee about 3 o’clock, had some tea and toast and hubby an kids picked me up at 4:30 an went to pizza express! I was starving!
Bit stiff this morning when I woke up but wouldn’t call it pain – just uncomfortable, ice got 2 kids, aged4 and 1 and can still cuddle them – they just have to climb up to me.
