my story 6/05/12 highgate (not happy with the hospital staff)

Hey girls,

So on the 5/05/12 didn’t get much sleep as I was so excited about getting my boobies the next day, I went to bed around 11:30pm but more rested my eyes than actually slept. I woke up around 6am on the 06/05/12 my admission time was 10:30am but me and my mum thought we would set off from Bristol around 7am to give us plenty of time to get there and allow for any bank holiday traffic there might be. We reached Highgate around 9:17 am which was really good considering we stopped at a service station aswell. As soon as I arrived we got greeted by reception and I filled out my form and just waited around 20/30 mins until I got shown to my room.

Once in my room number 308 me and my mum just plonked ourselves down and watched some tv until the nurse came in at around 10:25am she was so miserable talk about service with a smile, anyway she passed me my ann summers knickers as she called them and i put those on and my gown, she opened my window (never mind asking me and my mum if it was ok as my mum was a bit cold). The nurse then asked my mum if she wanted a cup of tea which my mum was gasping for so my mum said yes. As the nurse left she said that Mr Russo would be in a bit to draw on me. After a while it got chilly so we shut the window (this will be relevant later on in the story lol).

So with not much to do I continued to watch telly, then the anesthetist came in a while later and asked me a few questions and then left. A few hours later Matthew came in to take me to theater and guess what I hadn’t even seen Mr Russo talk about unorganized, Matthew looked confused and then left the room again, so more waiting around until the nurse came back in stormed over to the window and said it’s hot in here I’m going to open the window (all i could think was this isn’t your room you might be hot but you are not sat in here) so bloody rude!! and no mention of my mums tea. She asked if i had seen mr russo to which i replied no, she said she had left two messages for him to come up and then left. Anyway guess what i did then…yep you guessed it watched more telly lol, then finally Mr Russo came up in the afternoon and did his lovely art work on me and took some photographs and asked if i wanted to be a d or a full d to which i replied a full d. I was still not sure on what size i wanted,my pc ordered 375, 400 and 420 trx so I also asked Mr Russo if i could see the implants as I had only ever seen the 375 in the bristol mya clinic and would like to see what was going in my body and maybe it would help me with making my mind up with what size I wanted, Mr Russo said he would get a nurse to bring them up to me and then he shook my hand, left the room and said he would see me in a little while.

The next person to come in was the nurse, with no implants she said i’ll probably see them when i go down to theatre, and once again she went over to my window and opened it complaining that it’s not healthy to be in the room whilst it was that hot and if i was cold to get under my duvet…i had to bite my tongue cuz at this point she was really pissing me off she was a real prim and proper matron type woman. When she left my mum then turnt to me and said “you can get under the cover but what about me i’m sat next to the window and i’m freezing, and your the one paying over 4 grand for the room so if you want the window shut, we’ll shut the window…if she comes in here again and does that i’m gonna have to tell her” lool it was true i’m not being funny but she was very miserable and rude. I’ve had an op on the NHS before and they had much better customer service and were more organized, you’d expect more from going private.

Moving on Matthew came back to my room and could tell I didn’t look happy, It had been a long day and I still wasn’t sure on the size I was having and was unhappy with the service I had got from the hospital, so he said he will let me speak with Mr Russo when we get down to theatre and wouldn’t let me leave to go down until I gave him a smile, he was really nice. He took me to theatre at 2:30pm and I seen Mr Russo quickly before i got put to sleep, he held my hand and I told him I wanted the 420 as this is equivalent to the 410 cui and a lot of girls have mentioned going with the biggest your offered so that’s what I did he smiled and said ok, the next thing i remember was a horrible taste in the back of my mouth and felt like i had one too many vodkas then I was gone. I woke up in recovery in pain and couldn’t feel my left arm at all it was numb, I had a anti sickness jab in my bum as I felt sick then arrived back at my room just after 4pm. Mr Russo came in and said “it all went well you have great results and you had 420” I was soo happy I thanked him and then he left. I was speaking a lot of jibberish to my mum cuz I was properly drugged up lol. I remember asking her if she finally got her tea and she said yes at 3:30pm what a joke it took 5 hours!!

The nurse came in and helped me go to the toilet etc and I have to say towards the end she lightened up a bit and couldn’t do more for me. She gave me 2 muscle relaxant pills and another anti sickness tablet. I had my dinner around 6:30pm and finally got discharged at 8:25pm and the nurse wheeled me out to the car and me and my mum got on our way for that long journey back to Bristol, we arrived back home at 10:35pm.

I want to say sorry for my long essay but felt that I had to get it all out and I want to say a big thankyou for all the girls that have gave me great advice and have helped me on my booby journey. I have no pre op pics but I will upload some post op pics as soon as I can. I love my boobies and want to thank Mr Russo he is the best surgeon ever!! I’m in a lil bit of pain but i’m keeping on top of all my tablets. Good luck pre op girls and if there’s any questions I can help you with I’ll be more than happy to do so xxx

Thanks girls, i know loads of girls that have had a good experience at Highgate, it’s probably just my luck or because it was a sunday and no one wanted to be there, but still I expected much better xx

I was at Highgate yesterday as well hun, I don’t think I got the same nurse as you did though by the sounds of it. Do you mind if I add you? I got 400 trx partial unders, so not far off yours x

Hiya – who was your nurse? I had 3 different ones over 24 hours and they were all very helpful/friendly/kind, spot on service!! You call a number to get a cup of tea which is why there’s a phone in the room, the hospital manager told me this as soon as i entered my room..and i had cup after cup!!

I’d like Mya mod to feed back how fantastic the highgate staff are and made my experience there fantastic and i’d recommend MYA to anyone! x

my nurse was marianne amad (i think that was her name), i’m glad you had a good experience but mine wasn’t unfortunately i was very disappointed x

My nurse did the same at Highgate!! Not sure of her name but could have been the very same one.

She opened my window as soon as she walked in – said its not good to be hot (even though i was practically naked apart from paper knickers and a gown). I’m a skinny little thing and didn’t have the balls to close it. Sat there dithering for ages until my mum got all feisty and closed it lol. x

It probably was the same nurse….that’s rude isn’t it, she aint even the one using the room lol x

Even though u had a bad experience u got a fab set of breast, which is the main point lol!!! How come u decided the size on the day? Isn’t that something u affirm pre op? Wow Bristol to London good on u! Is Mr Russo based in Highgate? GUD luck with ur recovery xxx

yeah true lol, i couldn’t decide between 400 and 420 so thought i would leave it to mario but then on the day I thought i’m gonna go with the biggest i’ve been offered and told mario i want 420 but if they look too big then go with 400. I’m glad i went with the 420 now though. My pc said that mario doesn’t usually operate from highgate but i was due to have my ba with him on the 05th may at kidderminster but mya cancelled and changed it to the 6th at highgate xx
