MY STORY-BA/UPLIFT 22 AUG ROCHDALE

Had travelled up sunday night stayed in hotel got to hospital monday morning booked in and got taken to room got told wouldnt be going down till afternoon. Helena came and drew on me and took photos, went down about 2pm, came back bout 5:30pm felt great, nurse helped me get out of bed because needed a wee and no problems, Helena came to see me about 10pm she was really pleased with how it went and put macom on which felt so much better, didnt feel as though they were going to fall off. At about 1am my right boob was starting to swell and got really painful, the nurse put an ice pack on and gave me some oromorph but an hour later still in agony and my boob had doubled in size, they rang helena who told them to take bra off and put compression bandages on and to give me more oromorph and ice pack, and that she would see me in the morning. They did it helped for about five minutes but then felt as though my breast was going to explode, the nurses were worried rang helena again and explained she told them she was on her way and to get theatre team together, she came into my room and couldnt believe it, i had drained 500mls of blood in the drain, they took me down to theatre at 4am and they drained another 500mls of blood and a huge blood clot, they said they hadnt seen one as big before, washed out put implant back in and stiched me up, woke up in theatre, bit of a shock, but they said it was easier than waking me up in recovery, couldnt believe how the swelling had gone down and no pain, kept me in Tue night too wouldnt let me out of bed coz low bp and hb was low started on iron tablets eating and drinking no probs, they took drains out wed morning, and eventually let me come home wed afternoon. Had a fantastic nights sleep last night woke up this morning holding my boobies lol, taking iron tablets, antibiotics and painkillers now resting in bed so nice to be in my own bed. So thats my story so far, was not sure whether to put this on forum as dont want to frighten anybody that might be due to have theirs done but honestly it is very rare and even the nurses were shocked coz they said they have never known for helena to have to take anybody back to theatre, but i’m a surgical nurse and they said it does seem to happen to nurses lol. Even after that I would not have done anything different and I would do it all again, hopefully will get photos on soon. xxx

Oh hun, that is a really scary story. You poor thing, can’t imagine what you must have been going through.

Am so pleased to hear that you are feeling better now though and hope this will be the start of a very smooth recovery for you.

Can’t understand why the nurses did not seem to know what was going on though?

Hi Char honestly i felt really calm just wanted it sorted wouldnt let the nurses ring my daughter till the morning as did not want her to worry and like i said i feel fantastic now, i really dont want to scare anybody if anybody has any questions just ask xxx

So glad your back home ok Hun!! It’s always happens to the nurses!! My bp and sats went low! I didn’t put that on my story coz I didn’t want to worry people!! Lol. Lots a rest Now Hun! Xx

I think it’s good to share positive and negative aspects of the journey because then ladies can get see what can happen. As you said it is very rare so people shouldn’t worry too much really!

I was really unsure whether to put my story up but like pmc123 said its good to share positive and negative and really i dont see it as a negative, things are sent to make us stronger and i believe that it happens to people who can handle it. pmc123 have accepted and nikibockerglory accepted you too hunni, hopefully will get pics on in a couple of days once my head is more with it lol xx

Thats good to hear claire im just about getting used to sleeping sitting up glad of my v pillow though its a godsend, lyndsey cant get over them, when helena came in to do the marking lyndsey was like do you want us to go and i said no you can stay, took photos after helena left and then once i got back after first op lyndsey and elisha were taking photos then looking at the before ones and were amazed at the difference. When i got home my sis came to see me showed her the before and after photos and how they are now and she was amazed too, im just soooo happy lol xxxx
