My story- mr traynor 23/05/2012

So I arrived at Preston at about 11am, e nurse showed me to my room and told me to put on my gown and sexy paper pants lol. I was checked in then the anaesthetist came in to see me and had a chat, then some other doctor called julian came and checked my pulse and breathing etc, finally at 1.30 the god himself mr traynor came in, had a chat drew on me-with a pen that smelled like blueberries lol- and said I’ll see you soon, next thing I knew the nurse was there to take me to theatre.

Anaesthetic was fine didn’t hurt when they put the needle in.

When I woke up there were a lot of people fussing round me and attaching drips and forcing an oxygen mask on me, I woke up crying and coughing and the nurse said it took them a while to bring me round and that my stats had dropped really low along with my blood pressure so I had to stay on oxygen for a few hours after and was kept on a drip for a while.

The nurse came to see me and gave me some pain killers about 5pm and I ordered a sandwich and a cup of tea! Mr traynor came in to check on me and said he was happy wi how everything went and I finally took a peek! I love love love them!

The nurses were all lovely in the day not that I can remember much as I was so spaced out but the night staff came and introduced themselves and again were really lovely and gave me someone to help me sleep.

I would really recommend this to anyone I’ve been putting it off for years and can’t believe I’ve finally done it- I’m back home now and my friends have already been for a peek! I’ve not really had much pain just a bit tight on my chest.

I woke up with the tube still in my throat, that panicked me abit to say the least haha x

yeah i woke up like that too chelsa gave me a bit of a shock not as bad as the shock you must have been in amy xx

Yeah was a bit of a shock lol but all I could think was wow I have boobs and kept trying to feel them, the nurse was telling me off for moving about lol xxx

lol how funny they cant blame you for trying to touch them thats like putting an xmas present in front of a kid and telling them not to touch lol xx

I know I didn’t see them properly for a couple of hours as I couldn’t get out of bed to have a proper look but I’m in love with them already just wish they would stop burning and stinging I’m impatient and want the finished result now haha xxx

hahahaa exactly the same as me hun i want everything yesterday lol i had mine bandaged up until Wednesday was dying to see them Wednesday morning xx

congrats amy, I just added you. Hope I won’t wake up like this next wednesday. It’s my first GA.

I’m sure you will be fine I’ve had GA twice before and never reacted like that, well apart from the crying when I wake up

I’d be devastated if I was bandaged, I have to keep touching them to make sure they are really there and keep looking at them too xxx

i thought i was the only one haha i cant get used to the sounds they are making its making me cringe xxx

I haven’t had any sounds yet! What sounds are yours making? Xx

like a gurgling and swishy squelchy sound if that makes sense! aparently its trapped air inside its bizarre makes me laugh a little bit xxx

they are saying hello im finally here! its only my left one which was the slightly smaller one so dont know if that has anything to do with it xx

Oo maybe I hadn’t heard about this until now mine aren’t talking to me have to keep feeling them to make sure they are still there lol xx

It’s strange Having them isn’t it, but yet it feels like I’ve always had them too xxx

Yeah very strange feeling like that but I love it xx

Good to hear your stories, didn’t even know a tube went down your throat! It’s a good job I didn’t wake up like that haha would have been s aresd. Happy healing to all x
