Well back home girls so wanted to share my story (I’ll try to keep it short n sweet!)
I went for the whole package with overnight stay at Rochdale.My admission time was 12pm so got picked up by my driver at 10am(private executive firm based locally in Newcastle-totally discrete but lurvely car!).Got to the hospital just after 12 and was in my room by 12.30pm (word of warning,they asked me for my debit/credit card to swipe,think it was in case I wanted to watch the adult channel or summat(!) but I hadn’t taken it with me and was totally embarrassed when the receptionist put me down as a “refusal” on the form!).But once I got thru to the bit dedicated to MYA,everyone was lovely.
First knock at my door came about 15mins later and to my surprise was Mr T in his scrubs! We had a little chat about size then he tagged me.I asked him when he thought my op would be and he said probably within the next couple of hours.I was still in my civvies at this stage so he helped me into my gown and gave me a little pat on the shoulder for reassurance cos he knew I was a bit worried about the anaesthetic-he really is a lovely guy! 5 mins later the anaesthetist came visiting,short and sweet,straight to the point.Someone also came in with a menu for me to order my evening meal which was great cos I was already starving by that point.
About half an hour later the nurse arrived and started going thru pre-op details (I asked about paper knicks cos some of u on here had mentioned them but he said I was fine to keep mine on-bit unexpected and had only packed thongs but hey-ho!).Halfway thru,theatre nurse appeared and basically told him to hurry up cos they were ready for me! Before I knew it I was lying on the prep table with catheter being put in my hand and chatting to the anaesthetist.
Next thing I knew I was in recovery but absolutely FREEZING! I was shaking and my teeth were chattering uncontrollably so they put a big tumble dryer pipe thing in my bed blowing in hot air to warm me up.Got back to my room and my lovely nurse asked me if I wanted some food and I said that I’d have it in half an hour.I didn’t feel any pain at all,the tight feeling in my chest was just as tho I was wearing a bra that was too small.I was really paranoid about trying to sit up tho,felt sure I was gonna split my stitches open but u get the hang of it soon enough.Mr T came back to see me about 6.30pm with his suit on cos he was all done for the day.He told me that he was really happy with the way things went and that he thought I’d be really pleased with the end result-which was really comforting!
I can honestly say that things have been a breeze.My meal was lovely,not like ur typical hospital food at all,the nurses were really friendly and attentive but without pestering me every 5 mins,the room was well set out but the bed was a bit hard! I ordered my brekkie for the morning then settled down with my book. The nurse came in with ibuprofen and paracetamol at 10.30pm and I still felt fine.When I got up for a wee at 4am,felt a little faint and it was a bit sore sitting up first thing in the morning.Woke up at about 7.15am,got a cup of tea and newspaper by 7.30am and nurse was in with my meds by 7.45am.Brekkie was an hour later then final checks by 10am and was discharged at 11 with meds.
My boobs look really strange to me,they’re quite high up and I feel like they’re sitting in my armpits but thanks to all the post-op girls on here I was prepared for what to expect and I’m not at all worried cos I know so much is gonna change over the next few weeks.Thanks everyone for being so great and pre-op girls,u hav nothing to worry about,these guys are all total professionals and know exactly what they’re doing-ur in great hands! xx
