    Hi girls,

I’ve been reading that MYA have been cancelling a fair few ops days before! Why are they cancelling? I am really worried that they will cancel mine as I’ve had a bit of a rough patch in the past 🙁 xx

If you’ve taken antidepressants in the past 6 months or if you have a health condition then this is usually why x

@jlst are those literally the only reason why? x

If your surgeon has to perform an emergency op on another patient then some times he may have to cancel .

My PC said they’ve become really strict in depression lately and that was 3 months ago. She said the surgeons are saying its a no no for girls with depression in the last 6 months. She said other than that your usually okay to go ahead but then I’ve been seeing girls get theirs cancelled for other health things xx

Probably not but that’s the main reasons, that’s what they tell you. Although a few girls have had theirs cancelled because they’ve had counselling or antidepressants longer than 6 months ago but MYA were still being funny about it xx

I’ve been to hospital and was recovered overnight, not for depression though, nearly had liver failure. Do you think this could affect it? xx

I think mya are very picky they are the only company with the depressants rule , I couldn’t go with mya due to having antidepressants for only a month last year , so got my op in 3 weeks somewere else xx

That’s ridiculous though Ellie, people being depressed surely doesn’t have anything to do with surgery? Majority of people have surgery to make themselves feel better xx

It’s more that they think people aren’t in their right mind or something which I find unfair xxx

Just dnt mention it and tick the box no to antidepressants cos u haven’t had them, dnt mention your app from last year it will just hold things up, they are discriminating people on medication , depression doesnt mean we dnt have a stable mind , its stupid xx

I’m so upset. Mya called e yesterday to say my op next week has been cancelled as I saw my psychiatrist within the last 12 months. I on,y saw the psychiatrist as I was post natal as a precaution. Not because I actually needed to see them. What can I do? Im so so upset. I’ve made an appointment to get discharged from the psychiatrist but the soonest is 29th July!! Meaning MYA have my money now and won’t see me again for a year from then. I think it’s a joke. My mental health has been stable for well over a year and my breakdown was due to the bereavement of my mother. I find it so discriminating. Please help advise me what I can do. Thank you ladies xxx
