    Hi all

As the Managing Director of MYA cosmetic surgery I have always taken a great interest in reading everyone’s posts and seeing how helpful and informative they are for our patients awaiting and considering booking procedures.

So I thought I’d share my own story with you.

I’ve been eating healthily for a while now and have managed to lose 10lbs but I have not being able to shift the last few pounds around my abdominal area.

I decided to go for it when I was visiting the Manchester clinic and I was complaining about my suit trousers feeling tight when the surgeon mentioned he could do something about this and I would be able to fit back into a 32inch waist, without me needing to take a lot of time off from my hectic schedule.

So today was the day of my procedure!

I had it done first thing this morning and I feel as right as rain. The surgeon was superb he explained the process in detail and told me exactly how and where he’d be taking the fat from.

I couldn’t believe it after only an hour when he told me he’d actually taken a litre of fat. I hadn’t realised I had that much to remove!

I am so impressed with how quick and straight forward the procedure was; before I knew it I was in the waiting room with a cup of tea and a biscuit. It was not painful at all!

The nurses were absolutely lovely and they suggested I eat something so I’ve decided to be good and order a salad.

The surgeon advised there will be some leakage where I had my incisions so I am taking the rest of the day off to rest.

I have found the whole process phenomenal and I am eager to see my results.

Thank you for reading and if you have any questions feel free to post and I will do my best to get back to you.

Thank you that’s very kind tina2011 and 2cuks.

I’m in no discomfort whatsoever and I feel as right as rain.

The only thing which is posing a problem is I’m not used to wearing a corset(obviously!). I feel like I’ve done about 10,000 sit ups.

Also, I’ve not been able to shower today which will be nice for whoever I’m sitting next to at our Christmas party and I’ve got to wear my shirt outside of my trousers so it’s not my most attractive look but I’m sure it will all be worth it.

    I’ll keep you posted.

Merry Christmas and wishing you all the best for 2012.

P.S I’m uploading a picture of the fat the surgeon removed from me, it was over a litre. Not for the squeamish!

    Hi all

Hope you had a good Christmas.

    Just an update…

It’s day 6 and I’m already pleased with the results, my clothes are feeling looser already and at least six of my friends have said they fancy having it done so I must be a good advert!

I can’t wait to get the garment off, Christmas in a corset has been an experience.

Will check in again, hopefully will be able to put some pictures up in a couple of weeks.

I am hoping to have this procedure in the new year, but am not sure what the recovery time is, ie how much time I’d need off work. I had a BA in October and there is no way I could have gone back to the job i do now for several weeks (I wasn’t working then). What is the realistic recovery time for this procedure? If you can keep us updated that would be great, as I really want to work out how much time away from work I would need – I do a lot of walking and would need to be 100% healed before I could go back. Thanks for posting your story, look forward to the updates x

    Thank you all.

I have been really surprised with the recovery time. I was back to work the next day. However, I must stress that I work in an office so I haven’t had to do any lifting or anything too strenuous.

I think the recovery time will depend on the type of job you are doing and everyone heals differently. It’s best not to overdo it, but the reason I went for this procedure was because the recovery time was less than traditional liposuction and of course I couldn’t have much time off work.

I’m a week post op now and I’m going skiing next week although I will have to check with the nurse to see if there’s anything I cannot do.

Feel free to ask me any questions and I’ll do my best to get in touch
