MYA – IP Addresses

Why cant u find out the ip addresses for fake profiles and block these?

You can change your IP by turning off your rooter for 5 mins if you have a static IP, depending on your provider. it wouldn’t stop it, it would just delay things. Also I am not sure how they could block phone users as thats through 3G usually?

There is only one way to stop it, STOP REPLYING, and we are all guilty of that (myself very much included) x

Aww well think the easiest thing to do then is delete my acccount – sick of all the sh!te that happens on this place…..

This is exactly what the issue is. You hit the nail on the head Nikibockerglory. IP addresses are dynamic, they change from time to time as well as when a router is reset. Also users on mobiles IP changes and if we block one we could block a whole host of people on that network. Please all keep using the Report post function and we are doing our best to block users where possible and also remove posts.

Let’s get this forum back to where it should be, the best possible place for support and advice about cosmetic surgery!

I have only been on here about 4 weeks and had so much help and support from everyone. My op is in 8 days and I am so sad to hear that a few have been horrible. I cant comprehend why this would be. Yes MYA moderator it is a shame it is making girls leave especially those who have helped others so much. pfft brainy, I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for him pushing me lol He’s an ass hole most of the time but bloody good at what he does. I have noticed that on other forums that you start off with basic permissions like posting and stuff but you kind of build up your access as you gain status on the forum if that makes sense? It is a bit of a pain doing it like that but at least you would have to be registered for a certain amount of time, or posted so many posts, etc before you could add friends. Or gain further permissions after say consultation etc. I don’t know if this is very realistic or not, just randon thoughts coming out. Maybe friend requests can only be made by sending a message as well or it will reject, to control who we are adding as well, to save fake profiles having access to our pics etc???

There was never any of this when I first joined….the forum has changed beyond recognition over the past few months!

You could set your pics to private and only open on request,I think also we have to consider that genuine people also researching their procedures before they make the decision to book,and people that come here for support that have not actually used MYA for procedure,so I can imagine trying to put too many restrictions in place,could take away the essence of the forum.I know all members just want to feel reasurred that the forum is moderated,I personally feel with the latest adjustments to the system especially the report button are invaluable,the moderator will be able to pick up on this immediately,and people who do not adhere to the guidelines,im sure will be removed.This forum gives invaluable support to pre and post op members also people researching,I think we just need to report any abuse as soon as it happens,so that the forum feels like a sanctuary again.

I think a ‘Delete & Block’ button would be a good start!

A: Dont give them the satisfaction of you leaving

B: Stop replying to their posts/threads

We are our own worst enemies lol, all forums have trolls. I remember back in the day when I used to go on the ebay forums they had them, also a weight loss site I used to use and also sofem! It happens on all forums, its the people that reply that carry it on. We cannot blame MYA for everything I’m afraid, especially when we fuel it. At the end of the day thats what they do it for, for a reaction.

Well in most situations people want a reaction if they dont get one, the thread dies and we can concentrate on supporting people,after all that what we are here for.Even if we dont have all the answers,at least if we are here people will never feel alone.xx

It’s easy to say don’t react Tina, but if I see someone slagging off people I care about or slating things I believe strongly in then of course I’m gonna react….it’s called ‘defending yourself’ and that is something I’m not going to apologise for!
