Due to a history of mental health problems mya have told me they need the okay from my gp and mental health specialist before my procedure can go ahead.
So far I have had to pay a £20 charge from my gp surgery for the paperwork. I’m still awaiting the specialist response but I’m guessing it will also incur a charge. My actual doctor told me this morning that she feels mya should be covering these costs as they requested the reports.
Has anyone had this situation? If so were you made to pay for it all? Can’t help but feel my doctor had a point there.

I was also on medication for a month and had bulimia as a child. I’m fine now but I still have to pay £30 for my doctor to send MYA a letter. I thought the NHS could no charge you for information like this ???

They can. Things like this do not come under nhs services. Anything outside of nhs services is considered private and there must be a charge for it. At the end of the day it’s something not considered necessary, and an nhs Dr had to spend time doing paperwork towards it. I’m more than happy that they charge, I get it. I don’t however think it’s right to say no hidden costs with mya but you’ll have to pay for gp reports.
That being said I have not asked my pc about this, in just seeing what others have done.
