Having my BA in March and have read on here that a few girls had a car from MYA pick them up on the morning of their procedure. Was just wondering how this worked (do you have to live a certain distance away) and how much does it cost?? xxx

I’ve read the same but when asking it’s different, they said they don’t do it no more. I live in Bournemouth and just to get to Bristol for consultation Monday, took over 3hours and that’s less distance to London. Just a shame hospitals are so far away and does put off a little. My op is in April and have no idea how the he’ll I’m gonna get there and back x

    Hi ladies

Just to clarify MYA do not normally provide transport. However, if you are concerned or need help arranging how you are going to get to the hospital for your procedure, please contact your PC who will be more than happy to advise you.

    Many thanks

I think I’ll have to get a taxi which will be so expensive. Omg 3 hours that would be very expensive in taxi. The distance put me off at first but mya seem to be one of the best companies so i’ll just have to pay a bit more for transport. Its annoying cause there is a transform hospital not far from me lol xx

ah no lol, yea its from wolverhampton to london, my friend was taking me when i booked it but now might be having a big op round about the time so going to get a train there and transport with mya back because i cant get the train back on my own as u need someone to carry your bags etc. x

im having rhino tomorrow at highgate (london) and im in manchester, at my first consultation with my PC she said mya would provide transport, no mention of extra cost, ive paid for procedure and its the same price nothing extra. ive also arranged for my boyfriend to come with me and they said thats fine?? so maybe its changed, this was only just arranged by the way so must be very recently changed. xx

:(( bad times. Would be great if they still could offer this to those who live so far away , I left at 10.30 am to go Bristol, got there at 2 left at 5 got back at 9.30!!! X

    Menu

It’s only if they can’t send you to your closest hospital isn’t it? Or clinic. Eg my friend had an appointment at Cardiff but it got cancelled so they paid for her to go to Bristol the following day xx

Yeah prob best not to get public transport (which I feel sick on at the best of times) as id have to get the train, tram and bus. Just called some taxi companies £55 hopefully I can get the train there and then its not too expensive. xx

girls speak to your pc, im sure they can sort something for you, im staying overnight now at no extra cost, if you havent already had discount im sure they’ll be able to offer you some sort of help. x

My op is on 9th Feb @ fitzroy hospital in london. I live in plymouth and have had to travel to Bristol clinic for all my consultations. I am having to get a train the day before my op, stay over in a hotel and have my op the next day. If you pre book your train early the cost will be lower. I too have a Bupa hospital approximately 3 miles from my home but you get what you pay for and if that means a little extra cost for travel and accomodation then so be it x

    Menu

deffo go to the ibis, i stopped there for two nights (night before and night of my op), was so comfy and easy reach distance to first trust, literally a 3 min car drive xx
