While I have no complaints about my PC or surgeon I have to say that MYA’s administration processes are hap hazard to say the least.
My first meeting with my PC was positive and I put down a deposit to secure my surgery date and arranged for a consultation with my surgeon. This was cancelled and re scheduled for 2 weeks later (no problem there). I then received constant calls from MYA asking me to pay the balance for my surgery even though I’d not even met with my surgeon yet! I explained every time that I hadn’t had my consultation and therefore wasn’t under any obligation to pay the rest until I’d seen the surgeon, but I still received persistent calls asking for money.
I attended a pre op assessment last week. An hour after I left I received a text from MYA reminding me to attend the assessment?????
Then 2 days later I get an email saying ‘We’re sorry you were unable to attend your pre op assessment. Please contact us to reschedule. If the Pre-Operative Assessment is not completed your operation date may need to be rescheduled.’ I replied to say I did attend and could someone get back to me and confirm that my records have been updated to reflect this, but no one has responded.
Then last week I received a post card from Royal Mail saying that they were unable to deliver a letter addressed to me as the sender had not paid the required postage. I had no idea what it was and I paid the £1.36 to have it redelivered. I got home yesterday to find that MYA had sent me a receipt in the post but there was absolutely NO STAMP on the envelope!
I work for a huge corporation and I understand that admin errors happen, but come on! This doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence about my surgery. I’m booked in for my BA in a couple of weeks and I wouldn’t be surprised to turn up at the hospital, only to be told that I can’t have surgery as I’ve not had my pre op assessment!
