    Hi girls,

I know they tell you to take varnish and acrylic nails off, but has anyone ever gone with them on and they’ve said nothing? Or have they told you to take it off when you got there?

It’s just I spoke to my surgeon and he said it’s not necessary to remove them because there’s machines which monitor the oxygen in your blood, but I also had a different op late last year for health reasons and I had acrylics on my hands and feet and it wasn’t a problem.

I’m not sure I’d even have nails underneath my acrylics if I took them off anyway! Xx

Hi @eve This is something I have been wondering about also. When I spoke to my PC she said everything false and removable needs to be removed before surgery (ie: hair extensions, nails, eyelashes etc) I have had acrylic nails for many many years and they simply hurt when I have to take them off for a new set lol! I just can’t decide what I am going to do as I would hate to turn up for surgery and them cancel my op because of my nails xx

I’ve been told since my 1st ever consultation that everything has to come off. I’d say don’t risk it and turn up with acrylics and it ruin your operation date… 🙂 xo

This is probably going to seem silly but why can’t you have nail varnish on?

I had to take my make off, belly bar out, and acrylic nails of toes and hands. No nail vanish either. Apparently the nail beds are the first thing to change colour of your struggling whilst under the anesthetic xx
