Hey, I’m new to this so bare with me!!

I’ve been wanting a BA for a few years now and after recently being on holiday with a friend who has had one (and hers look AMAZING), I decided to go for a first consultation in Edinburgh today. It went great and after seeing pics and getting info etc it got me really excited about it all! I’m a 34b(ish) at the moment but have quite a curvy figure (size 10/12) so feel like I’m just not in proportion and its really getting me down…

I would need to fund it with a loan but I’m 21 and don’t have great credit history, and I work full time earning £1100 a month after tax. I applied for a loan through First Medical Loans and they require a joint applicant, however, none of my family support me whatsoever therefore its impossible! They just don’t to understand the psychological reasons behind it.

Apologies for going on and on I just feel like I have no where and no one to turn to – it will take me years to save up, does anyone have any kind advice/suggestions? Thanks so much xxx

Hi hun.Go on money supermarket and apply for a 0% credit card. U earn enough to pay it off.

I got my first one at 20yr old and put petrol on it each month paying it off each month and then i got my credit limit increased after six months from £400 – £3000.

hopefully this will work for u too hun.

Why don’t you try with your bank? They normally base your credit score on your account conduct with them. They see your incomings and outgoings so if you run your account in order (e.g. no going over agreed overdraft limit) I think they would probably help you. Also, do you have any friends who would support your application with FML? They might accept you having a friend as the joint applicant?

I haven’t told my family yet to avoid any of the attempts to try and talk me out of it, so I can understand how you must feel. Hope you find this site useful, I joined in april and have found loads of support from the girls on here x

Thanks Jessica. To be honest I don’t have a very good relationship with my bank. For some reason they won’t give me a loan either, although the last time I appled was last year I think. I may try them again!! You wouldn’t believe how long I’ve been trying to get this funded, I think thats possibly why no one will give me the credit!

I do have a couple of friends I could ask but I think I’d feel cheeky asking. It could be a possibility in the end though xx

When i got a bank loan I had to have not been overdrawn for 6 months. I went in and said id moved back in with my dad so all of my commitments that they could see on the statement (ie rent, ctax) wasnt applicable anymore. My friend works for a bank now and she says its really difficult for anyone to get a loan unless your a home owner nowadays.

Always better to say its for a car too cause they know if you default there is collateral against it.

Oh and check your credit rating on experian. Mine was excellent but because my overdraft had been renewed, my insurance (on credit) had just been renewed and id applied for a dfs sofa (but chose not to in the end) having 3 or more credit score searches in the past 3 (or 6 months?) also affects your score.

Other than that you could try the MYA piggy bank scheme, if you book it for next year youll know you have to transfer a set amount each month.

Thanks girls you’ve been great! I think the piggy bank might be my best option just now. At least I’ll have something to look forward to whilst saving up!! Do I just speak to my PC about this? xx
