No bra at all for 6 weeks! help?!

I am currently 11 days post op. I had 340cc unders with Dr Traynor and got told im not to wear a bra for 6 weeks. This was fine in the first week where i was just in my jarmies around the house but now i find i have nothing to wear unless i want the world to see my nipples! When i went for my dressings off my mam was chatting to the receptionist and mentioned it and she says that sometimes surgeons do that because im young(18) i dont need the support as much. I have been browsing bra’s looking at t-shirt ones that dont have underwired and figured they would be ok to wear perhaps 3 weeks post op ish? for occasions and when im out and about. Has anyone else had this problem?! and do they think it would be ok if i wore one now and then aslong as it wasnt to tight on my scars???

Hi Caitlin, are you saying you have not been wearing one at all? you are meant to be wearing a sports bra for the first 6 weeks, just not a normal one. Wearing a sports bra keeps them in the right place whyll they are healing. lu x

caitlin18,i had mr traynor allmost 6 week ago,and he told me to were nothing till 6 week,i just wear tight cami top from primark,found them the best,cant wait to start wearing bras.x

Dont worry about this you will soon start to find ways around it! Not all surgeons want you to wear a bra for the first 6 weeks and its not always the best things to do. You can get nipple covers (doesnt sound great) from places like la senza and M&S, try these out. they will come in handy after when you want to wear backless dresses ect!

i tried a bra a few weeks post op and felt uncomfortable for the first few times so if you do decide to wear a bra make sure you take your time and dont just into a sports bra for a long period of time!

Thanks i just wanted to know if anyone else was the same cos i hadnt seen any other discussions about it, just about people wearing sports bras. Thanks for the help im sure ill manage! Better to just be careful and do as im told. Im looking forward to a good spend on some pretty underwear come week 6! x

Hi Caitlin, i had my op with Mr Traynor 5 weeks ago and im not allowed to wear a bra for 6 weeks either! Ive been using nipple covers from M&S and vest topd with moulded cups from primark. Hope this helps xx
